Jericho and I appear in front of the gates of the Glass City. We walk into the gates, bypassing the others who have been gathered in the front foyer. Jericho takes the two of us down in an elevator that brings us into the dungeons.
Once the door to the elevator slides open, the two of us leave it and rush down the halls that will bring us to where Ramsey is kept. As we go, the strange symptoms get worse. Jericho yelps as he grabs his head, bending forward and breathing hard and fast.
"Go on," he says. "It is the final cell in this block. I will catch up when I have this under control. Go, Eris."
I nod, patting his arm. "Stay strong, Jericho."
Then, I hurry along, my breaths fast like his, and each exhale brings a blast of icy smoke. I feel my eyes begin to glow as I head down the long hall.
I freeze when a familiar voice calls out.
"Hey, Ramsey? Can you hear me? Is that you?"
"Aires?" I ask.
He gasps and I hear him moving within the cell beside where I stand. I turn to the door, and see Aires press his face up against the bars.
"Eris? Oh my gods, is that you?"
"Aires!" I hurry over to the door, looking around frantically, searching for a way to open it. "Oh, gods. What have they done to you?"
"Don't worry about me! What... who did this to you? Eris, please. Tell me who did this to you."
Tears slip down my face. "I don't know. I ... I heard a voice in my head right after this started. Jericho, he said it was Ramsey, a dragon. So we came back to see her. But ... I'm gonna get you out of here."
"Eris, what is happening to you?"
I shake my head. "Don't worry about me, Aires. Please. Please just tell me how to free you and Ramsey."
"Tarquin and Willa. They have the keys. They ... they did this to us."
Aires's long, black hair is messy and hangs in his pale face. A scar under his red eyes is visible, but when he tilts his head to better see me, I see that he's bleeding. He is hurt, I can almost feel it.
"Oh, I'm gonna kill them," I whisper.
"No," he says. "Eris, tell me how to help you. This is bad. This isn't just some random thing. It ... it's a symptom of .... of a Fracture."
