(Y/n’s Pov.)

I smiled as I pet the small soul of a dove gently. I was in charge of taking care of the souls that my sister, Lady Luck, sends to me. Bad souls are the ones that my sister takes to hell, where Death chooses what punishment they deserve, but, the good souls, she sends to me. My job is to take care of the souls until my mother, Life, reincarnates them into another world. As much as I loved my job, taking care of these souls, I was often left wondering what the human world was really like. Luck told me that judging from her recent trips, the human world was evolving, but seemed to have a small growing problem. There were too many lives being cut short and she had started seeing a lot of those creepy transformed souls lately. She wouldn't tell me what the problem with the souls was, though, because I would and I quote:

"Take pity on the transformed souls who need to be punished for their sins".

However, that only brought up more questions. 'Was the human world really that bad?' I wondered to myself, my curiosity being peaked. 'What is it that makes it so bad and what have those transformed souls have to do with it?' Looking back now, I wondered how things would have been different if I had known. Would my curiosity finally come to pass..., or will it only get stronger? However, everything changed the day that Life called me and Luck to her room...

"Luck, why does mother want us?" I asked my sister and she sighed.

"I know that it's because of the ongoing transformed souls problem. She told me that she thinks she has to finally tell you now, but I don't know why. Who knows what grandmother Fate has told her." She glanced at me before turning forward again after I didn't say anything. Grandmother Fate is my mother's Superior supervisor and she is known to be pretty vague.

"Fate has been telling me strange things lately and recently she told me that today, right now, she can take care of the souls while I talk to mother with you. I'm worried about what she said though." This got my attention and I looked at her and asked,

"What did she say to you?"

"She told me that only love can save those transformed souls and I have an awful feeling that I know what she means. That's the reason that Life called us. Well, mostly you, I'm just here for support." Luck gave me a small crooked smile and turned to me. I stopped as well and my sister grabbed my hand gently.  She handed me something made of gold. It was a pendant. One that I saw Luck make over the past week. Anything that Luck makes or enchants, gives the user some lucky support on their journey. I stared at it for a moment stunned before Luck laughed a little.

"Come on, put it on. I made it for you, Y/n." She said with a strained smile.

"I hope it helps you." I tilted my head before Luck started walking again. I had to hurry to catch up. We passed Grim Reaper on the way and he gave me a small smile when I waved at him. I made it my mission to let him know that he was more than his job ever since I found out that he thinks that was all he was ever good for. Collecting souls for my sister's trial. Can you imagine? Anyway, when we got to the garden that Life made, she was ready and waiting for us.

"Hello, my children, I see that Luck has already told you, Y/n, about what Fate said?" Life asked me. I nodded and quoted,

"That only love can save those transformed souls." Then I asked,

"Is that why I'm here? What am I doing exactly?"

"An appropriate question needs an appropriate response." Life said to me, approvingly. She waved at Luck who nodded and left the garden. Luck gave me a worried look before she left and I frowned. Finally, Life said to me,
