As the months passed, Ranpo and Poe's bond grew even deeper. Their lives intertwined seamlessly, and they relished the joy of shared experiences. They often found themselves marveling at how naturally their relationship had evolved, from cherished moments of quiet companionship to the excitement of new adventures.

One evening, after a particularly delightful day spent exploring the city and solving puzzles together, they returned to their apartment. The cozy warmth of their home embraced them as they settled on the couch, basking in the glow of their shared contentment.

Poe had been wrestling with a thought for some time, a desire that had grown stronger with each passing day. He knew it was the right moment, the perfect time to express the depth of his feelings. With a heart full of love and a touch of nervousness, he reached into his pocket and felt the small, black box hidden there.

"Ranpo," Poe began, his voice soft yet steady, "there's something important I want to ask you."

Ranpo turned to him, curiosity and affection shining in his eyes. "What is it, Poe?"

Taking a deep breath, Poe held Ranpo's gaze and opened the box, revealing a simple but elegant ring. "Ranpo, you've brought so much light and happiness into my life. I can't imagine a future without you by my side... so I want this to be a promise to you, that no matter what happens, I will be there for you.... So.... Will you marry me?"

Ranpo's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, he was speechless. He looked at the ring, then back at Poe, his heart swelling with emotion. "Poe... I... Yes! Yes, I will!"

The relief and joy on Poe's face were palpable as he slipped the ring onto Ranpo's finger. They embraced them both collapsing on the couch, their hearts beating in unison, overwhelmed by the love they shared.

In the days that followed, they began planning their wedding, eager to celebrate their union with friends and loved ones. Their home, already a sanctuary of shared dreams and happiness, now buzzed with the excitement of their upcoming nuptials.

One evening, as they sat by the window, watching the city lights twinkle, Poe took Ranpo's hand and smiled. "I still can't believe how lucky I am to have you in my life."

Ranpo leaned in, resting his head on Poe's shoulder. "We're both lucky, Poe. And I can't wait to be married to you."

Poe wrapped his arms around Ranpo's waist kissing his neck as Ranpo laughed at how sappy Poe was being, the next day Ranpo went into work and told Yosano the news about his engagement, Yosano was shocked but happy for her friend and co-worker.

Ranpo could barely focus on his paperwork as he couldn't keep his eyes off the ring on his finger still shocked by how his life has changed for the better since meeting Poe, who knew that crying on a sidewalk would lead you to meeting your soon to be husband.

Poe was home working on his new book as he got a message from Yosano saying congratulations on his and Ranpo's engagement, he sent her a thank you back showing his gratitude for the message.

When Ranpo came home from work he was met with his fiance and a nice dinner, after dinner they got changed and ready for bed, Ranpo and Poe talked about wedding plans like where to hold the event and so on.

Things were going great for Ranpo and Poe as they saved up money for the wedding as they spent the time together, Ranpo and Poe went out for coffee with Yosano to talk to her about wedding planning, Yosano gave them some great possible locations and wedding decor options for them.

A few months passed and one evening Ranpo came home with a saddened look on his face which Poe noticed right away, Poe went to Ranpo wondering what happened to make his lover so sad, Ranpo told Poe that apparently his ex had stopped by his work asking for him again while him and Yosano were out for a case.
