Amaka stared at her reflection in the mirror. The woman looking back wasn't the naive, hopeful girl who had come to Lagos years ago. She had been broken, betrayed, and used. But she wasn't a victim anymore. Lagos had made her harder, smarter, and now, she was ready to play the game.
Her first target was Dotun.
Dotun had fallen hard. His marriage to Elizabeth, once a shield from his financial woes, was now on the rocks. Elizabeth had found out about his past affair with Amaka, but she wasn't leaving. Not yet. She wanted revenge, and she needed Dotun to suffer first. He was stuck—trapped between his debt, Elizabeth's wrath, and his shattered reputation.
Amaka knew this. She had watched him carefully over the past few months, biding her time, preparing for the moment she'd strike. Now, it was time.
She dialed his number.
"Amaka," Dotun's voice was a mix of surprise and desperation. "I've missed you. I was just—"
"Save it, Dotun. I'm not calling for that," she interrupted, her voice cold. "I have a proposal for you."
Dotun's silence was telling. He was listening.
"I know you're drowning, and I'm offering you a lifeline," she said, her plan falling into place. "I'll help you get back on your feet. But you're going to give me something in return."
"What?" His tone shifted to suspicion.
"Your loyalty," she replied, her voice sharp. "You'll do exactly as I say. And in return, I'll make sure Elizabeth doesn't ruin what's left of your life."
Dotun hesitated. But he had no choice. He was already broken, and Amaka knew it. She had the power now.
"Alright," he finally agreed, his pride swallowed. "What do you need me to do?"
Amaka smiled to herself. The game had just begun.
