The Power Shift

Farouq had always been on the fringes of Amaka's life, a distant figure connected to the web of Lagos elite. He was rich, well-connected, and dangerous, running in circles where power was currency and lives were expendable. But now, she needed him.

She approached him cautiously, knowing full well the risks involved. Farouq wasn't like Dotun or Tosin—he wasn't careless. He was calculating, and he always played to win.

"Amaka, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Farouq's voice was smooth as he greeted her at his mansion in Ikoyi. He was lounging by the pool, sipping on champagne, his sunglasses shielding his eyes.

"I need a favor," she replied, not wasting any time.

Farouq raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And what makes you think I'll do anything for you?"

"Because you owe me," she said, her voice steady. "I know about your involvement in Dotun's deals. And I know how Elizabeth's father has been watching you closely."

Farouq chuckled, clearly entertained. "You've done your homework. But you should know by now, in Lagos, everyone has secrets."

"True," Amaka conceded. "But not everyone has as much to lose as you do."

Farouq's smile faded. He knew she was right. For all his power and wealth, one wrong move could bring everything crashing down. And in Lagos, there were always vultures waiting to tear you apart.

"What do you want?" he asked, his tone more serious now.

"I want Dotun ruined," Amaka said bluntly. "I want Tosin exposed. And I want my life back."

Farouq studied her for a moment, considering his options. He could help her, sure, but what was in it for him?

"I'll make you a deal," he said finally. "I'll help you, but you'll owe me. And when I call in that favor, you'll deliver."

Amaka hesitated, knowing that Farouq's favors came at a high price. But what choice did she have? She had come too far to turn back now.

"Deal," she agreed.
