- Past discussions held within a room space.

His father remarked in his usual laid-back manner and there was a hint of seriousness in his tone, "Chand, you're getting married''.

Chand's eyes went wide with surprise when his father mentioned the word "marriage," causing him to accidentally splash his drink all over his older brother's face. In a flurry of shock and surpeise, he quickly snatched a tissue from the table and handed it to his brother, eager to help clean up the mess he had just made.

He looked to his father with a shock expression and inquired, "Papa, what are you saying?"

His father reiterated with a stern expression, "I want to discuss your marriage, and yes, you are indeed getting married."

''Whaaaaaaatttttttttttt?" he was overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions swirling in his mind, especially in light of the startling news he had just received. In a moment of sheer disbelief, he couldn't help but exclaim loudly.

His father looked to him with a bemused expression and asked, "Chand, what's all this shouting about? Are you trying to make us deaf before your wedding?"

He struggled to grasp the situation fully, and when he responded to his father, his voice came out in a rather peculiar manner, simply saying, "No."

He quietly looked to his father and inquired, "But why?" His father replied in a firm tone, "I've already told you, you're getting married, so that's end. No more questions."

He inquired once more, his voice strained with tension, "Wh-" but before he could finish his thought, his father raised his hand in a gesture that silenced him. This signal was clear: when someone stands with their hand up, it signifies that questioning is not permitted in the presence of others, regardless of who they may be. In that moment, the only option was to accept the decision that had been made.

He was taken aback by his father's gesture, leaving him momentarily speechless. Glancing at his mother and older brother for support, he turned to his brother for clarity. With a heavy heart, he lifted his gaze towards his mother and asked, "Maa, why is papa saying I should get married when none of my older brothers have even tied the knot yet?"

His mother gazed at her son with concern, gently cradling his hand in both of hers. With a warm smile, she reassured him, "Chand beta, all your older brothers are about to get married, and as you know, they have already found their brides; it's just a matter of saying yes. I was worried about you, but that worry is soon going to fade away."

Chand gazed into his mother's joyful eyes and repeated, "But maa, I really don't want to get married right now. Please, can you talk to dad about it?"

His mother glanced at her husband beside her and let out a soft sigh before speaking, "Chand beta, you know that your father's decision is final, and your marriage will be to a wonderful family."

Chand stood speechless before his parents, his gaze shifting to his older brother, who was always fiercely protective of him. He felt a sense of reassurance knowing that his brother would undoubtedly step in to help him put an end to this marriage that he was not ready for.

In the next instant, he shifted his attention to his older brother, putting on a dramatic pout that resembled a cry, knowing full well that his brother couldn't resist it. This act had always been his secret weapon, as his brother had a soft spot for his tearful expressions. With a few faux tears welling up in his eyes, he spoke in a shaky voice, "Big brother, please, you have to call off this marriage; I'm not ready to get married just yet."
