Hello my Gracious Audience!
No, It's not me trying to slip into a break again but to clear some things up before we move to the next chapters.
It has started to get a little political in here, the historical fiction is historical fiction-ing, and it's my duty to simplify certain aspects of the story. History and wars can get confusing sometimes and words might just jumble into one another and since my readers are from a diverse background I mustn't preassume you'll just know what's going on, especially since it's a historical background conveyed without imagery.
So buckle up for some history gossip!

We're in the year 1466 AD, and the succession crisis for the Shogun's seat is at its peak in the feudal Japan. (Refer to Shinichi's letter to Megumi for further details in the chapter 'Bloom To Fall')
The main two Daimyo, the feudal lords who are at opposing ends are Yamana Sozen and Hosokawa Katsumoto. (Taking the Shogun's dispute as a cover to fight each other, most probably.)
Ikeda family is a retainer of Yamana Sozen, while the Tsugikuni family is just an ally to them.
Now, onto the maps!
The couple is right now in Settsu and to the North we have Yamashiro (basically Kyoto)
Right= North; Left= South; Up= West; Bottom= East
The provinces in Red are domains of Yamana Sozen, the one's in Green are Hosokawa Katsumoto's.
And the red portion at the border of Settsu and Yamashiro (Kyoto) is the Yamana occupied area to block Settsu's opening into the capital. Here we have the military villages and several posts. However, the villages are dispersed throughout the Northern Settsu.
There are mountainous forest that saperate Settsu from Tamba and Kyoto.

Yamana and Hosokawa both have more domains, obviously (they're bigshots) but for simplicity's sake and to know what's going on these the only ones we need to know about right now.
Not to forget, I am not a Japanese person hence what I'm writing is solely research based and I acknowledge that my knowledge about the Samurai culture is limited and mistakes and some romanticism is unavoidable. Some incidents might be historically accurate, some not so much, created for the plot. But if anything in my cultural depiction of pre-modern Japan offends you, please reach out to me.
My instagram is called @/jasdeeptheprocrastinator (funky, lol)
Fun Fact: Yamana Sozen is the father-in-law of Hosokawa Katsumoto.
And today was Lunar Eclipse, had to upload something, so I thought why not yap about the lore. The new chapter will come in a day or two, stay tuned ;)
Good day!
