How did I miss it? I dived down thinking that he would race me to it, but he just followed me carefully. The egg is more cotton than an egg.

"It hatched." Then trickling sound was heard above. Is it raining?

"Aaarrgghh!" He screamed to my surprise but what made him scream took away my tongue.

I looked at it closely. Ants cannot stand on two legs for a long time. It was a tiny human standing there beside the bug with hands on its waist. Its hair is thick and wired like untidy roots filled with soil. It's also so skinny like a stick insect that wore a garb with dark decaying leaf.

"Try to lay a finger on this, you'll see." It said to my surprise. It can talk too, though its voice is tiny. I went back to the room and checked the two. They won't wake up, I guess. I sprinted silently having this funny feeling through my bones.

"You can talk?" I whispered. The tiny human was stroking the back of the bug that lay there still by its side.

"How come that this can see and hear me?" it said facing at me.

"Why shouldn't I?" I whispered back. "I have eyes. I have ears. Why are you so tiny? What are you doing there?" The thought of having someone to talk to once again excites me.

"What's it to you?" the bug now crawls around it.

"No reason. Are you with that bug?"

"What if I'm with it?" There seemed to be something wrong with this tiny human. One blow from me and it'll be thrown away down this table. I just kept my cool; besides, it's also been a long time since I talked to someone especially to someone like this.

"I just liked to know." I told him calmly. "What are you? Why are you so tiny?"

It just looked at the bug and brushed his face as if irritated. I wonder what is the smell of it. I think it's nasty.

"The question is, how come that you can see me?" It had its head in my direction. I couldn't see its eyes because the lamp was behind them. But I think that it's pondering. I also began to wonder why? I remember in that instant the tall man. Oh wait. . . if mother and father see us here, I'll be doomed. I checked them again, but they were sleeping soundly. I wonder if this knows the tall man because he too fancies insects. And this tiny human fancies bugs.

"You know I saw a man last, last week. I saw him, but father did not – "

"Where?"

"In a small garden, by the woods." I pointed at the direction. It became serious.

"What is he doing there?"

"I don't know really, but he wanted me to look after a spider there. He said that I should not hunt it because it will lay eggs soon. I bet now it already has. I don't get outside that much so I'm not sure."

"Don't you want to see?" it turned its head again in my direction.

"See what? The tall man or the spider?"

"The spider." It slouched. "You wanted to, right? Spiders are aggressive after it laid its eggs. No one can beat you with that."

"I don't think it's a good idea." Considering what is happening right now; I can't afford to add another. I wanted to know what happened with the spider too. Maybe, the tall man was there watching it.
