Wonder Woman: Queens of the Ocean (Part 7)

New friends or more?

Diana narrates an internal monologue "Over the past few weeks, Mera and I have grown closer and continue to defend the coasts. Clea's forces are in sheer numbers with multiple invasions happening worldwide. It seems only us two are capable of arriving on time and saving the people here. We set up a secret base in an uninhabited coastal island where we try to pinpoint Clea's location. Every foe we face turns into a life we save. Mera has informed me the Atlantean populations are growing again with families being reunited. We have developed a strong womanly bond, something I have not felt in a long while. We have leant on each other, showed each other our powers, have had deep talks about our origins and lives, we entertain ourselves with games, books and art. My blindness hinders me but I do not let it prevent me from being myself. Mera has learnt braille and the literature here quite fast. She has brought many cultural items from her refuge post, items that were saved in the invasion of her kingdom. She has read me stories, showed me her trident weapon and has gotten me close to marine life. I really wish I could see her, and see the world around her"

Diana then drinks some coconut water on the island and Mera walks in. She opens Diana's palm and its a small device

Diana "What is this?"

Mera "Put it over your mouth

Diana does and it expands to cover her mouth a nose"

Mera then takes Diana's hand to the coast of their island and deep into the ocean

Mera "Now we dive"

Mera holds Diana's hand and they move underwater at great speeds. Diana cannot see but feels the force. They travel through hidden water tunnels and slipstreams till they reach a refuge post

Mera "This is the main refuge post that harbors the surviving Atlanteans. We have been working over the years to rescue more and one day will be at our true home. Clea has not yet found this nor has any other enemy. We feel a close presence so we must work to defeat her soon"

Mera then takes Diana around and the Atlanteans look up

Atlantean "Its Queen Mera with her new friend"

Atlantean "She is beautiful"

Mera "I really wish you can see all this"

Diana "The vibrance radiates into my soul and I feel warmth here, it reminds me of home. Thank you for trusting me and taking me here, I will do anything to help you people"

Diana and Mera then lean their heads to one another and they kiss. But it is quickly interrupted by a dolphin telling the girls of a threat with Trinia the bird also relaying information. They swim to the location and alleviate the threat

Diana speaks another monologue "I think I found new love, but I feel a sense of uneasiness. I still wear Becca's ring and miss her everyday. Is it morally right to move on? I know Becca wants me to be happy but I feel some guilt. But I prioritize my mission with my new ally, we have saved lives and the attacks have slowly stopped. Clea's resources have been exhausted and she will be tempted to fight us ourselves once her cowardice mask has removed. I returned the favor to Mera by showing her around the surface world. I took her home, gave her civilian clothes and we had a weekend of fun now that no reports of invasions occurred. We went bowling, golf, the spa, on a walk and I flew her to many landmarks to show her the world beyond the sea. I wish to take her to Themyscira next but she is currently trying various foods in my kitchen"

Diana and Mera dine together and Mera thanks her. She goes to the door but Diana asks her to stay. Mera does and she sits on Diana's couch for some more girltalk. They then lean to kiss again and they do. They kiss for longer but Diana feels uneasy

Mera "You miss her still don't you?"

Diana nods 

Mera "I feel the same for my Arthur. And whilst I caught feeling for you, and you for me. I do not want to do anything you are uncomfortable with"

Diana smiles "Its...unexplained feelings. I felt this with Becca when we went in our early missions. I ended my relationship with Kasia and then Becca entered my life, we felt close to each other and then after a few months, we decided to give a relationship a go, it was magical- she was there for me as I was for her. I told you this already"

Mera "If it makes you feel better, feel free retelling it"

Diana smiles "Thank you Mera, I think for now I want us to keep the close friends dynamic. We have two worlds to save"

Mera "Agreed"

Diana and Mera then hug and sit together
