Song of the chapter: Heavy By The marias
Chapter: 01
6 am, Seoul
The sound of a cheerful alarm blared through the room. "Good morning, pineapple!" it chimed in an obnoxiously bright voice. Jisung groaned, burying his face into his pillow.
"Why the hell did I set that again?" he muttered to himself, yawning as he dragged his body upright. Today marked the first day of school. Same school, same people, but a new year. As much as he dreaded the early mornings, there was a small part of him looking forward to seeing who his roommate would be this year. He hoped it would be Felix again.
He stumbled into the bathroom, lazily brushing his teeth when his phone buzzed. Picking up without even looking at the screen, he was immediately greeted by an all-too-familiar yell.
"JIISUNG!" Felix's excited voice rang through the line.
"It's six in the morning, tone it down" Jisung replied, trying to stifle a laugh. Only Felix could be this hyped so early.
For the next five minutes, Felix rambled on about how excited he was for the new school year. Jisung, still half-asleep, finished dressing up, cleaned up his place a little, and slipped on his shoes.
Jisung walked to campus, his headphones snug over his ears as a soft tune filled the warm air. The late-blooming cherry blossoms lined the street, their pink petals floating gently to the ground with every breeze. He inhaled deeply, the faint scent of flowers mixing with the crispness of a new school year.
It felt strange—coming back after vacation. Nostalgic, almost bittersweet. The familiar sight of students laughing in the distance stirred something in his chest. He adjusted his backpack, the weight of it grounding him as the towering school gates came into view.
The sunlight filtering through the trees felt warmer today, like a quiet promise of something good. Jisung tugged one earphone off, letting the faint hum of campus life seep in. His lips curved into a small, almost imperceptible smile.
This year might hurt, he thought—but it might also be beautiful.
He finally spotted Felix among the students, standing next to Chan and Jeongin, Felix's bright blonde hair made him impossible to miss.
"Hi" Chan greeted warmly, pulling Jisung into a quick hug.
"JISUNGIIE HI!" Felix practically screamed, shoving Chan aside to engulf Jisung in a hug instead.
"Hi, baby" Jisung replied teasingly, patting Felix on the head. He greeted Jeongin with a hug as well.
"I'm so tired, I wanna go home already" Jisung whined for the fourth time in ten minutes.
