I'm still deciding whether or not I'm going to make this have it's own story, but alas. Not yet. You have to wait first. :3

It's been 2 years since my parents divorced, life has been quiet. Too quiet. But I have been doing well in school recently. I guess the divorce really did change my life. My scars and bruises are slowly healing. I joined a sports club, everyone was so welcoming and nice that it feels strange. I'm so used to all the negative energy, so these positive ones are overwhelming. Then there was this girl, she plays volleyball. She told me that tryouts are still going on and that I should pick a sport before all the spots get taken. I smiled and nodded, asking her what sports she recommend. "You should try volleyball! Or whatever you like." She replied enthusiastically. I laughed a bit, for the first first time in a long time. She then realized she hasn't told me her name "My name is Jessica by the way, or Jess for short." She frantically spat out. She spoke kinda fast but understood her either way. "My name is Marcus, or Mark for short." My calm tone seemed to ease her, she nodded. I picked a sport which is swimming, since I've been taking swimming lessons before my step dad came.

After a few days we grew closer. Jess told me all the weird things she used to do as a kid. Like putting dirt in a bucket to make a castle. Or that time when she sneaks out into the back alley just to feed some cats bread crumbs. It was funny to think she did all that as a kid, that grew into a hobby for her.

Over the next few days we got even closer, hanging out at her house most times, but sometimes even shopping at the mall. I felt a warmth feeling grow in my chest each time we meet. There's no denying it for me, I really like her.

A month later, she came up to me with a huge smile. She reveals that she has a girlfriend. My heart dropped to my stomach as I listened to her news that she said. I couldn't let her down, so I said that I was happy for her, even if I was jealous.

3 weeks after, me and Jess began to distance. Most of her attention focused on her girlfriend, Erhleen. My blood boils at the sight of the two together. Knowing full well it was Erhleen's idea all along. Seeing that smug smirk on her face worsened the feeling of envy. I knew then that we were enemies, fighting for Jessica's heart.
