I LOOK AT MY PHONE TO FIND AVA T-
exting me. I couldn’t help but laugh as Ava’s text lit up my screen, her messages so on point it practically jumped out at me. My thumbs flew over the keyboard, firing back a quick reply, shaking my head at her wit. Sitting back in my chair, I felt the tension in my shoulders ease as I reread her message, a grin spreading across my face. I ran a hand through my hair, still chuckling under my breath as I glanced at the screen again, waiting for her next response. The phone buzzed, and before I even read it, I knew it’d be something that would have me laughing all over again. I leaned back further, stretching out, one hand lazily in my pocket as I shook my head, another amused laugh escaping me. Whatever this was, this easy back-and-forth, it had a way of pulling me out of my own head and making everything feel lighter.

I didn't even realize what the fuck her name was in whatsapp “Avaxzyuch??” i  mummer under my breath, I choke on air as I laugh to much

mummer under my breath, I choke on air as I laugh to much. My stomach hurts like total shit, I smirk slightly before realizing she just left me on seen, I rolled my eyes shooting my head as I pressed the power button, and placed my phone on my couch before getting up, I walk over to the kitchen, making myself coffee.

My phone buzzed against the couch, the vibration rattling through the cusion like a reminder I couldn’t ignore. Glancing down, I saw the screen light up with her name, and my heart stuttered, just for a second, before  swiped it up. I head to pick up the phone, I blink and blink again. Before starting to laugh

I stare at my phone before grinning and bursting in cold laughter, oh fuck wait

I stare at the screen with no fucking reply, im just left on seen.
I roll my eyes before throwing my phone back to the couch, I swing my legs up to stand on the ground and walking over to the kitchen again, I placed my mug on the counter. I grabbed the jar of coffee, twisting off the lid and inhaling the rich, earthy aroma before scooping out a heaping spoonful of the dark powder. The grains were fine, almost velvety as they tumbled into the bottom of my favorite mug. The mug itself was simple but solid matte black on the outside with a deep crimson glaze inside, a gift from someone who knew I liked my mornings quiet and strong. I tapped the spoon lightly against the rim, watching the coffee settle, forming a small mound in the center, dark and waiting for the heat to bring it to life.

I reached for the kettle, feeling the warmth of the metal handle in my hand as I lifted it, steam curling up from the spout. The soft hiss of boiling water filled the quiet kitchen as I slowly poured it into the waiting mug. The dark coffee grounds inside swirled and bubbled as the water hit them, releasing that familiar, rich aroma. I watched the steam rise, the heat fogging up the air between me and the mug. Setting the kettle down, I gave the coffee a quick stir, the spoon clinking softly against the ceramic. As the scent of fresh coffee filled the room, I stood there for a moment, enjoying the simple routine, feeling the warmth seep into the cup and into my hands.

I lift the mug to my lips, feeling the warmth radiating through the ceramic as the rich scent of coffee filled the air. The first sip was hot, just shy of scalding, but I let it linger on my tongue, savoring the bold, bitter flavor. The smooth liquid slipped down my throat, spreading warmth through my chest, a subtle comfort in the quiet morning. I took another sip, slower this time, feeling the slight edge of the caffeine kick in, sharpening the edges of the day ahead. With each sip, the world seemed to wake up a little more, the silence of the moment becoming something I could hold onto just a bit longer.

I walk over to my bedroom but heading to the living room first, I took my phone from the cushion, my phone was sinking in it, I pushed open the door to the bedroom, the soft creak of the hinges breaking the stillness of the hallway. Stepping inside, the familiar scent of her lingered in the air, subtle and warm, wrapping around me. My shoes barely made a sound against the plush carpet as I crossed the room, the dim light from the window casting long shadows across the floor. The bed was unmade, sheets slightly rumpled, and I paused for a moment at the door, taking it all in the quiet, the comfort, the sense of calm that seemed to live in this space. My hand brushed lightly against the doorframe as I stepped further in, everything about this room pulling me closer.

God I miss her.

I push the door close and twisting the doorknob before turning on my heels and sitting on my grey bedsheets. I groan as I press the power button on on my phone , swiping down my wallpaper to enter the password.

The door bell rang multiple times.
