CHAN'S POV:
"Han Jisung, where the fuck are you?" I yell in frustration when I find yet another empty room in the mansion. What did they need all this space for?
I slide open the door to the private balcony of the room, which is comparatively smaller than the main balcony. From the height, I closely eye the surroundings below to see if I can find a head full of blonde hair. There were a quite a number of funky colours here and there, but only a few blondes in the crowd. I get the nastiest shock of my life when my eyes land on what's happening in the central balcony.
Minho and Jiyeon kissing. Like, kissing kissing. And his blazer was draped around her waist.
Why? What was the reason? Why did it sting so much?
I hold back the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes. No, I have to focus on the mission. Personal feelings are secondary. With that in mind, I turn around to leave.
JIYEON'S POV:
Bang!
"What was that?" Minho asks, creating a gap between us once again and looking around. It did feel weird to kiss him, but that was some quick thinking that helped up blend in with the rest of the crowd. I try to hide myself behind his frame because the guards were still here, but the sound alerts them and they immediately leave.
"Was that a gunshot? I thought weapons weren't allowed," I remark. Well, I guess you can't trust a criminal to keep his word.
"Let's go," he says, grabbing my wrist and running back indoors. I needed to know if Chan was okay. What if Jisung found him and tried to kill him? I try to shake off the negative thoughts as we go in search of the source of the gunshot. By this time, people were scrambling about and causing pandemonium. Of course, a single gunshot was enough to incite violence in a house filled to the brim with criminals.
"Hold on, is that Jisung?" I ask, hope filling me when I spot blonde hair a few feet in front of me. There was almost a stampede in the floor with everyone rushing downstairs and I was finding it difficult to keep my eyes on a single person for more than five seconds, especially with masks on.
"His hair's too short to tie in a ponytail, so that's definitely not him. Don't get lost, I can't lose track of both you and Chan," he says, holding my hand as we navigate our way through the crowd. I get the feeling that we're close to the gunshot victim when I see a large group concentrating around a single area, gasping and murmuring amongst themselves. Right as I'm about to dive through the crowd, I spot Chan.
"Chan! Any news?" I ask. He gives me a blank expression, glancing at my fingers intertwined with Minho's. There was no need to hold it anymore, so I separate our hands.
"Nothing. He's gone," he simply states.
"What? What do you mean 'he's gone'? Did you see him leave?" Minho asks with a frown. Chan glares at him for some reason.
"No, he's the one who shot the guy in the center, whoever it is. The music box is there. I'm sure he did it as some sort of grand exit."
"So what are we still doing here? Shouldn't we search for him?" I ask.
"Isn't that what we've been doing till now?" Chan slightly snaps, catching me off guard. What was the deal with him? "We'll call the authorities and ask them to keep an eye out for Jisung. Let's head home, we're done for the day."
Minho and I look at each other. Something had definitely gotten into him and I wasn't the only one feeling it. It was not like him to speak in an assertive tone to us.
The car ride was utterly silent. Every now and then, I'd steal a glance at him to see if he was alright but every single time I did, all I saw was him scowling as he stared out the window.
