A/n: I'm writing on a newer device compared to last time so I don't have any pictures yet! It'll be updated to fix that.
The 7 men looked at Hongjoong with nothing but disbelief in his words. Yeosang especially looked around, wondering if he even said all of that in his head or had it simply been due to their captain's deranged thinking. There was a long moment of silence, of stillness. San was the first to break it, opening his mouth to protest the captain's insanity. Before San could repeat himself, Hongjoong tossed something in his direction.
His sharp reflexes reacted quickly to catch it. Whatever the captain tossed, it emitted a soft glow, illuminating the area with an aqua blue color. San unclenched his hand to discover a ring. Hongjoong passed one to each of the members as he snapped his finger, directing all attention to him.
“Heard that the magic society was getting very crafty these days so I made some investments.”
It was as if they heard an endless stream of echoes. Confusion engulfed all of the elites as his voice was projected from the small silver rings. The soft blue glow was dimmed to an untraceable light when it was not activated. They observed this spectacle in awe, jumping at the echo. Yunho looked into his ring with a little bit more than surprise.
“When did you-” Yunho started to question, almost trembling at the memories this uprooted. His old hometown, the market, this ring. He's seen it before, it couldn't have been a coincidence, Hongjoong interrupted his intention.
“You’re like a magic magnet. Found a lot of items trying to recruit you.” Hongjoong teased as Yunho looked at the ring.
His eyes never lifted as he thought deeply, had he really been able to find all these magic items because of him? He was still getting used to being… useful. Wooyoung glanced between Yunho and Hongjoong before clearing his throat, being the first to break the thought-filled silence.
“Can I just say how cool our crew would be with a wizard? We wouldn’t be chased off an island before we get supplies again I’ll tell you that…” Wooyoung spoke, juggling between his excitement and the sadness of their situation. Even with the attempt of a playful manner I which he spoke in, the members could only softly chuckle at the sad reality of their situation.
“If that cursed island has some kind of time manipulation, we're going to use it to our advantage. This is an opportunity we can't waste, we can utilize the additional time for scavenging food, scouting for any civilizations, and recovering the spirits of the crew. Imagine how much more we could accomplish by the time we have one day's worth of supplies?” Hongjoong spoke, fiddling with one of his many rings laced on fingers as he steered the conversation back on topic. His unwavering faith in either his hunch or his crew made it hard to completely deny him, they never could,
Eyes trailed the faces of the other crewmates as they all gauged the pros and cons. Unfortunately for their situation, one pro is enough to go forward. The pro was simple, more time. It was the single thing everyone wished they had at the end of their life and here they are, presented with the chance to manipulate it.
“When should we leave the ship?” Jongho asked, the captain's face morphed the moment he started brainstorming. Jongho, notable by the way his eyes glazed over and while fidgeting with the newly placed ring, seemed uncomfortable with their position but had no better logic to offer. He released a big sigh as he held his eyes in an attempt to alleviate his tension. The soft rocking of the ship was almost nauseating as traces of anxiety began building inside each member.
