Chapter five

Today was supposed to be my day off but I had to go see my brother at his nursery. We were in talks with a solicitor to see what we could do to take the nursery away from our dad. I had to go to Reece to speak to him about what were the next step.

''Big brother''

I said while slightly knocking on his office door. He was sat at his desk muttering something to himself. When he heard me he put down his phone.

''Lil' sis. What can I do for you?''

''I have the form from the solicitors. We may actually have a case to take the nursery away from father. ''

''Great, give them to me and i'll sign them.''

I was about to hand him the papers when we were interrupted by Carly walking in with a bouquet of flowers.

''Hi guys, sorry to interupt but these were just delivered for you Reece.''

''For me?'' Said reece while taking the flowers from her hands. ''Thanks''

Carly smiled at both of us before going back to work. It didn't take me long to notice that half the flowers were dead. My heart immediatly sank. I gave him an horrified look and took two steps back.

''Reece what is this?''

Reece was as horrified as me, he put down the flowers on the desk and took out the card that came with them. He let out a grunt and shook his head after reading it.

''Mia...''

He said under his breath.

''Those are from Mia? Why would she send those?''

''Even tough we are not getting back together she still likes to send them once in a while to mess with me. It's her way of having fun I guess''

'' Some twisted way...'' I said under my breath.

We stayed there in silence for a few minutes, but I couldnt stop staring at those flowers. I felt like I was about to throw up. Reece must have seen my uneasy look because he threw the flowers in the bin and came around his desk to get closer to me.

''Aut' look at me''

He said putting his hand on my chin and lifting it up so my eyes met his.

''It's over, we got each other back. Roger will never come between us again.''

I let out a small sigh and bit my lip.

''I know Reece, it just seeing those flowers, it brought me back to all the time I ever received them. Why did you let Mia blackmail you all these time? Why didn't you say something sooner?''

We had talked a bit about that dreadfull night but I had still so many unanswered questions. Reece took a few steps back to lean against his desk and looked down at his shoes.

''I really don't know, I just knew that by doing this and pretending to be mean ,you were safe from Roger and that's all I ever wanted, for you to be safe.''

''But beeing safe also meant that I was alone...''

I said soflty, trying to fight back the tears that were starting to fill my eyes. I started fidgeting with my finger's.

''Aut, i am really sorry for everything. I know it won't give us back those years but I there anything I can do?''

I looked up at him again and pointed at the papers that were on the desk.

''You can help me by getting the nursery away from him so we can finaly be free ''

Reece turned away from me to take the papers and sign them. He handed them back to me.

''And after that?''

''You can take me out to diner and a show''

I smirked at him. He smiled and nodded his head.

''Done, how does this saturday sound? I'll make sure to find something dark and vampy just for you. ''

''See you saturday''

I said while leaving his office.
