It was night time, the mournful hum of the car engine rippled through the air. As they sat in the back seat, an oppressive silence hung between them.

They were driving to their office after attending an event, which left them in despair. Now they have an emergency in their office.

"Don't worry Shubh" a soothing voice broke silence and said man turned his head meeting the other's gaze, nodding his head.

"You know mother will be furious" Shubh said, his voice slicing through the thick silence. But he did not get any response.

Upon entering the office shub was greeted by his secretary, who's eyes darted between papers on the desk.

He approached him, grasped his shoulder "what kept you from attending the event?" he asked, his eyes flashed with anger.

The shorter man startled by suddenness for a moment "a personal emergency" he said, eyes darted downward.

"Meeting my business rivals' is your excuse for that Ishan?". His tone heavy with sarcasm.

Ishan paused, hearing the question. His confused gaze met with his boss. "I don't understand what are you talking about Sir?" voiced with puzzled expression.

"Don't pretend to be naive. I know what you did" he retorted, his jaw clenched and grip tightened on Ishan's wrist.Ishan hisses at the sudden pain.

"What are you even hinting at shubi?" he inquired again puzzled by the statement.

Shubman didn't respond, just stared at him with firm glare. He then strode up to the desk and gathered scattered papers in hand, turned around to Ishan, still glaring.

His gaze flickered at the papers then said "they were important to my brother but now they got leaked by a vermin!"

"And we got to know the culprit is you " he said with accusation.

Ishan stepped back, eyes widened as the words sink within him."That's not true " he said defending himself.

"Oh! I've enough evidence"

"Shubi I did not do such things trust me, do you think I would do such a wretched act." he whispered trying to convince him.

His eyes darted, searching for answers but what shubman said after made his eyes burn with tears.

"I'm certain. People like you are not worthy of faith or trust" his voice laced with accusation. His mind raced with emotions, he did not have control of his words.

His eyes stung as the words sliced through, leaving him breathless. His lips parted, but his words died inside. He bit back the tears that threatened to fall.

"Shubi list-" he tried again stepping closer to him with shaky steps but halted by a shout from him.

"Do not try to lure me" he warned with a growl and clenched jaw.
" Now, get out of my sight; otherwise, face the consequences."

Ishan stood froze. His mind reeled with emotions, tears swirling out of his eyes, as the weight of the words settled upon him. He took shaky steps towards the exit door, his legs trembling beneath him.

He waits as if shubman would stop him but that didn't occurred. He ran out of the sight with a throbbing heart.

The large office room that once filled by their playful banter now filled with eerie silence.

Shubman sat there, as he reminisced about his earlier actions a mix of regret and longing etched on his face. His shoulder slumped as the gravity of the situation washed over him, the cold and tensed atmosphere filled the room making his breath hitched.
