monster under your bed

A child's nightmare was always a monster under their bed,
Your parents always said it was in your head.
But for once I was right, there was a monster, not under my bed but under my nose,
I thought she was there to support me, but now I know.

She is the monster I always thought. She is the woman who tore my confidence
I had this ominous feeling following me everywhere
Beware. beware. beware.

It started with little things, and slowly, they built up until it all got too much.
I misjudged what I could carry, and I crumbled under the weight,
This was my fate.

She is the monster I always thought. She is the woman who made me cry,
She made me feel like the bad guy. It made me feel shy.

I hid away and isolated myself, and she made me hate myself.
I took a step back, but then she attacked. I knew from the start that she was my monster, not under my bed but under my nose. I should have known.
