This pairing features Phosphophyllite during the Winter-Spring Arc. An alternate universe where they grew up with Reader and eventually met Antarcticite, bonding every winter.
As much as I'd like to keep everything gender-neutral, for the sake of my sanity I might be interchanging some pronouns.
I dislike the use of placeholder names as much as everyone else, I find it hard to write using only nicknames. For a better reading experience I recommend the neat plugin InterractiveFics: https://interactivefics.tumblr.com/download
It allows you to replace any value (in this case a name, the generic Y/N) into a word of your choosing, as well as permanently saving said value so that it carries through different chapters and websites.- -- -- -------------------------- -- -- - - -- -- -------------------------- -- -- -- -- -- -------------------------- -- -- -
Antarct was captured during the Lunarian ambush on the Shore of Beginnings, only two days after they had said goodnight to ____. They completed winter patrol alone with Sensei.
Phos never forgave themselves for their failings, their only consolation being that their friend was still safe and sound, hibernating away the rest of winter. Even so, terror gnawed at their heart at the prospect of someone else dear to them being kidnapped.
They would become stronger.
Wiser, kinder, more.
More. Just like Antarct.

- The beginning of spring.
Turning in their sleep, once, then twice, ____ blinked slowly as they rose from their hibernation. Not a single gem other than themselves could be found in the bedchamber.
"...Did they forget to wake me up?" the irridescent Gem thought, rubbing the grogginess from of their eyes, "Well, it's not that important."
Just as they were about to get up, a voice called to them. It was familiar, if not... different in timbre. They turned around, immediately relieved to be struck by the sight of mint-green, Phosphophyllite's hair and eyes, observing them the archway.
The teal gem's expression was closed-off, hard to read but, not unkind. But it's not a look they ever expected to see on their brother- and suddenly____ became worried.
Just what had happened after their collapse?
Phosphophyllite had changed. Quite a lot. One might say they looked like a complete stranger. A dreadful thought came to their mind. Had they slept too many a winter? Hundreds of years, even? Is this what Padpardascha felt like, every single time they woke up?

Phos had somehow become taller, their arms made of a golden alloy.
Is this what they and Antarct had found as replacement?
Oh. They remember now. When winter began, they insisted on tagging along as they could not hibernate either, and so Sensei agreed to let Antarct train the two youngsters as teammates for winter duty. They made a surprisingly balanced trio for such a short time amount of time.
Yet after a mere two weeks, it became apparent that ____'s specific inclusions could not handle being fed so little light. Then, Phos had their arms taken by the ice floes. Gradually, they fell into progessively worse narcolepsy, until Antarct, reliable as ever (and Phos, now quite literally armless but still quite confident) promised them a peaceful sleep, free from outside harm.
