X-Com: Revenge of The Ethereals

„Daddy!“ my son leaped over the sofa in our living room the same moment I opened the door and came in. He ran to me and hugged me. I've caressed his head and said „Hi, Jimmy.“ He is allways happy when I come back home from work.

I work at a local ellerium power plant which has been set after the first alien invasion on earth. Back in 2015 the first saucer screamed through the Earth's atmosphere. At first, nobody had any idea but soon the true terror began. Aliens started to terrorize all big cities and to blow up huge factory chains. The destruction was massive, no one was left behind.

Luckily for the humanity, a hidden project was set active just few days after the first invasion when abduction rate started to rise. These X-Com forces, as they were later called by the governments, were operating in a hidden base which location is known only to few people and soon started to fight against alien forces.

That's when the terror started. I can still remember the news from that day, whole Sydney burning to ashes, thousands of people screaming and alien aircrafts roaming the sky. The reporter and his cameraman were killed during the live transmittion by some hellish looking creatures with thrusters growing out of their torso.

Soon, a dark age for humanity started. Millions were killed as the aliens launched more and more attacks on huge cities but soon, they slowly started to loose a stable ground unther their feet.

It's told that X-Com found their bases located deep in the ocean. Nothing is confirmed neither rejected, but rumors started to spread that they soon started to launch attacks on these bases, weakening enemy forces and aquiring valuable tech.

It was just another day during the invasion, around five years after the first attack when X-Com finaly found the alien mothership. This enormous construction of size not known to humanity just appeared over the Earth and in two days span the hugest event since the invasion started.

It's told that all at once, earthquakes stated to errupt all over the Earth on places never seen before. Altogether with these earthquakes, the alien mothership started to rose away from the earth's surface. Few people even remember seeing a human plane taking off the mothership, altough that's probably a false rumor. Anyways, the ship soon took off the Earth's atmosphere into the space where it exploded.

After a couple days, those few alien forces left on earth now without a coordination from their leaders were taken down and Earth, for first time after around a half decade tasted what peace is like. The whole planet was devastated, two thirds of population was now dead and those who left were frightened. The X-Com force soon started to run operations to rebuild destroyed humanity. Large camps rose where the most damage was dealt, sometimes counting up to thousands of inhabitants. It took around 20 more years to get the life within stable limits.

Luckily, all this was under the wing of the now conjoined Earth and soon, alien technologies started to get into the civil world. At first, it was an ellerium generator which kept running for aournd three months with minimal maintenance before its fuel went to a critical limit and another three weeks to run dry, whole time feeding hundrets of houses whit the precious electricity.

Soon after that an anti-gravity drive was mounted under first huge trucks to transport commodities like food and clothing around camps where factory chains to produce them were re-established. That's when the need of currency started to rise and soon, a Global Credit of Earth was established. People started to work and shop and all around live lives similar to what they did before the invasion.

The Governments left some time for the humanity to calm down and around the year 2040 they started to run some kind of tests around former camps. At first, they were complusory but soon after they found about the humans' scepticism about these, they relased information about tests and made them voluntary. Todays statistics say that around 19% of population has developed psionic powers to some point with around 42% of people potentially having them too.

And that's how we get to the present day, June 4th 2103. My name is James Malcolm and I live with my Wife Abigail and my son Jim in the Retribution City named after the first refugee camp in the middle Europe.

A/N: Hey, so I've decided to try and write something I was thinking about for some time now. I hope you'll like it. I've not a set plot so it may turn really bad or it may turn really great. I personally hope for the second option :D . This chapter may be a bit overwhelming but I tried to give you guys some info about what happened before the story of this book. Thank you for reading!
