"I can't believe you still come here" Shereen complained to Pete even as he held the door open for her.

They were at their usual coffee shop, just a few blocks from Pete's condo.

"I'm not about to give up my favorite Americano for no one. Besides, this way she sees me getting hotter." Pete shrugged.

"I still think you are way prettier than her." Shereen stated in all her smugness. She tossed her blue wavy hair back with a flick of her head.

"I think you might be a bit biased about that."

The order was the usual, which meant Pete would have to watch Shereen eat a slice of cheesecake. He vowed to make it a miserable experience by complaining as much as possible.

"You really aren't going to have any?" Shereen chose the chair by the window, the hot rays hit her back.

"I'm almost down 4 kilos, I can't give in now."

"And you can't let your hot trainer down," Shereen added.

"Don't talk about him so early. I don't want to start the day off with a headache." Pete pinched the bridge of his nose dramatically.

"Are you still playing Overwatch with him?"

"Yes, it's annoying. He's terrible, I'm carrying the game most of the time." Pete complained, but he hadn't declined a single invite.

"Yeah? You poor thing, I'm sure it's very hard to talk to your new crush till 3 o'clock in the morning." Shereen mocked while digging into her dessert with a fork.

"He is not my new crush. He is hot, I give you that, but he is weird and annoying."

"So he is hot, weird and annoying? That sounds exactly like you." Shereen's smile was Chesire, interrupted by her bite of cheesecake.

"Shut up," Pete demanded.

The morning was easy, Pete worked while Shereen studied. Closer to noon when the cafe started picking up traffic Pete gave in to eating his protein bar. It was a day off from the gym and he wanted to save his calorie intake for dinner.

"Remember when you were wondering what kind of guy the barista was into?" Shereen asked suddenly, causing Pete to look up from his laptop.

"What?"

"Don't be obvious, but check out her googly eyes for that customer."

Pete reached down to his bag and picked up his glasses case, on the way up he snuck a look behind him. His stomach dropped as he straightened, wide eyes met Shereen's gaze.

"Oh my god, that's Vegas!"

Shereen covered her mouth, eyes suddenly full with the same surprise.

"Okay, so he is really fucking hot." Shereen agreed.

Pete closed his eyes and huffed through his nose. Because if that wasn't the most annoying thing to hear, he wasn't sure what else could be.

"Yeah, I know. I told you that already."

"Yes, but I didn't think he could be that hot. Damn, those arms are something else. He kind of looks like a—"

"Okay, shut up." Pete rolled his eyes back exacerbated.

"Aren't you going to say hi?" Shereen's Cheshire smile was back in place.

"No. Today is supposed to be an off day, I don't need to have any interaction with him whatsoever." Pete knew he was already threading a thin line by playing video games and sending selfies. He shouldn't get any more involved.
