I
The Energy of Babylon runs through my veins, it's the only kind I'd ever known.
But I could see it fading. . .just like mama's love for me.
The grand bustling palace had once been alive with the movement of devote servants-the throne room was empty now. . .
I would don my favorite Royal purple dress that mama had the royal seamstress craft only for me, it had the most beautiful rose gold patterns, that's why I loved it so much.
I wore it on the days that the morning stood still. The days I could get up real early to catch a glimpse of the rolling hills which glistened in the morning sun on rare days.
On days I would always catch a whiff of the slightest smell of straw in the stone halls, I'd know that the royal gardener was not long gone. I loved to talk to aunt Beltis about the sky and the trees that are so big, even bigger than papa, and papa was the king!
I would hop after uncle Bern while he tended to the dinning room, and he'd tell me all about The blue birds and the songs they sang.
But now everything is just. . .Different.
I don't wear my purple dress anymore, mama doesn't let me. It's tucked away in my wardrobe, and I've tried my best not to look at it, not even a little bit. And I don't go out anymore, it always rains, even the mornings are dark, the gardens a mess, and I know why it's so. . .
And I talked, I talked a lot but no one listened, no one answered. My only response would be the howling wind that breezed across and through the palace, and now it seemed, into everyone's hearts.
And I knew why it was so. . .
The silence was so loud, too loud, sometimes I could hear my ears ringing , I would run to mama but mama was never there. Mama didn't love me anymore.
And I knew why it was so. . .
Papa was dead, Babylon had fallen.
