—"𝑺𝑨𝑴!?"
The salty water stung my eyes, I kept them closed as I swam up for air. Gasping when I surfaced, I looked around for her. And Nathan, of course. Treading, I spotted her within the heavy rain. Swimming to her, I called out for her. "Andrea!" My voice cracked. Once I was close, I didn't have time to think, Shoreliners were close by. Grabbing her underneath her arms, I swam towards shore. We weren't too far.
—
Climbing up the beach, I noticed bits of our boat. I also hoped Nathan was okay. Holding, Andrea firm, I ended up piggy backing her. The rain was relentless. It beat down against us. As I began to climb up the slippery rocks, I narrowed my brows softly. However, I heard a soft voice as I stood looking around for a place to continue.
"𝑺𝒂𝒎..."
"I'm going to find a place -"
"𝑰𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒔."
"I know. C'mon."
She slipped down out of my grasp, and my eyes shifted towards her disheveled appearance. "Hey, be careful." She didn't reply, so I took that as a reason to keep moving forward. Grabbing her hand, we walked forward again before I spotted what looked to be a cave tucked away within the rocky cliffs. "This way." I also had to find something for her gunshot wound. As we walked by jagged rocks, I spotted a piece of red cloth blowing in the wind. "Just a bit further."
"𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕."
"Yes, you can." Narrowing my brows, I looked down at her. She looked exhausted, and I knew her wound wasn't helping. Once we were at the right spot, I urged her forward. "Go on, I'll be right behind you."
"𝑵𝒐, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕."
Urging her forward again, I gently pushed her towards the handholds. Hearing her cry made my heart drop. Pushing forwards, my handhold cracked, making me slip back down.
"𝑺𝒂𝒎!"
"Augh!" Clinging on for dear life, I managed to scale back up. Once I was in the overhang, I looked around for her. The dim light wasn't enough to see. Tripping over something, I looked down to see a flashlight. Picking it up, I turned it on and spotted Andrea, who was collapsed on the ground. Rushing forward, I immediately started to shake her. "No, no, wake up!" Tapping her face, I did everything to try and wake her. However, my mind went back to her wound.
Grabbing the piece of cloth from my pocket, I laid it beside her. I needed something to remove the bullet. Remembering she had a knife on her and searched her before finding it tied to her boot lace. Once I had found it, I moved along with what I had to do. Noticing she was in an in and out state, I grimaced as I removed the bullet with the knife. "Sh, sh, I know." After it was removed, I quickly wrapped it, with the cloth, then pulled her shirt down. Finding a spot to rest, I leaned against the cave wall and pulled her gently so she was lying between my legs. Holding her close, I placed my chin on top of her head. "I've got you."
—
Waking at the dim light, I blinked my eyes to rid them of sleep. I noticed Andrea was still within my arms sleeping. In all honesty, I wanted to stay awake all night to keep watch. Spotting the flashlight again, I got up from behind her and leaned her against the cave wall. In Morse code, I flashed 𝑺𝑰𝑪 𝑷𝑨𝑹𝑽𝑰𝑺 𝑴𝑨𝑮𝑵𝑨. Turning away when I didn't get a response right away, I looked down at Andrea, who started to wake. "You alright?"
