The sprawling city of Iacon was bathed in the soft glow of Cybertron's setting sun. The streets hummed with quiet activity, but within the grand halls of Cybertron's capital, a tension brewed. This tension clung to Optimus and Skifira as they walked side by side, taking in the last remnants of their day. Skifira's heart was light, yet the burden of the future lay on her shoulders as the gravity of her new life as the Queen of Cybertron.
Earlier that day, Optimus had shown Skifira around the vast city—her new home. They had walked through the bustling streets, passed towering spires, and witnessed the rebuild of a world healing from war. Bots had whispered about her, some casting surprised glances, others openly murmuring in awe at the warrior princess who had captured their king's heart. But despite the whispers, despite the stares, Optimus had stayed close to her, his steady presence grounding her.
His personal quarters, a towering structure at the heart of Iacon, were a sanctuary. A place of respite from the chaos of leadership, war, and the looming politics that would forever seek to entangle them. The architecture was sleek and modern, its vast windows offering stunning views of the city below, but the warmth of the interior softened its imposing grandeur. It was a home—their home.
As they entered the quarters, Optimus turned to Skifira, his optics soft as they met hers. "This is where we'll start our life together," he said gently, his voice full of affection. "Where we'll build our future."
Skifira smiled at him, the weight of everything they'd experienced that day lifting from her shoulders. "It's beautiful, Optimus. Everything is."
But the peace they had found in each other was not shared by everyone. The events of the day lingered in Skifira's mind—especially the encounter with Elita One.
Elita's Confrontation with the Council
As Optimus and Skifira found comfort in each other's company, Elita One stood before the stern gaze of the Cybertronian Council. She was in no mood to show weakness. Her optics flickered coldly as the councilors' eyes bore down on her. The very council that had once sought to betroth her to Optimus Prime now sat in judgment of her.
"Elita One, you have been summoned here to explain your actions," the head councilor began, his voice sharp and unforgiving. "We have reports that you've aligned yourself with Megatron. Do you deny this?"
Elita's optics narrowed, her voice calm but laced with bitterness. "I don't deny it," she said coldly. "I made my choice. But I didn't betray Cybertron. I betrayed the path you set for me without ever asking what I wanted."
Murmurs spread through the chamber, councilors exchanging disapproving glances. One of the younger councilors leaned forward, his optics gleaming with interest. "So, this is about revenge, isn't it? You're angry because Optimus rejected you?"
Elita's expression darkened. "This isn't about revenge. It's about not being controlled by the council's schemes. You tried to use me—use us—for your political gain. And when Optimus chose someone else, I saw through your games."
The head councilor's optics flashed with anger. "You aligned yourself with our enemy. You've betrayed everything we stand for."
Elita's voice was flat, her optics cold as steel. "I did what I had to. If you think this ends with me groveling for forgiveness, you're mistaken."
The council chamber grew silent as the weight of her words settled over them. The head councilor's voice was cold when he spoke again. "There will be consequences for your actions, Elita. We will deliberate on what must be done, but know this—betrayal is not without punishment."
Without another word, Elita turned on her heel and left the chamber. Her fate was uncertain, but in her mind, her choice had already been made. She would face the consequences, but she would do so on her terms.
