Chapter 19: The Shattered BondElara’s heart dropped at the sight of her father. The man she had once admired, the man who had taught her everything she knew, was now consumed by the very power he sought to control. His eyes, once filled with warmth, were cold and unrecognizable.“You don’t have to do this,” Elara pleaded, taking a step forward. “We can still stop this together. You don’t need the artifact.”Her father’s smile was chilling. “You don’t understand, Elara. This is bigger than us. Bigger than the kingdom. The power of the gods... it’s within my grasp. With this, I can reshape the world, fix everything that’s broken.”“And what about the people you’ll destroy in the process?” Elara shot back, her voice trembling with anger. “What about the kingdom you’re supposed to protect?”“I’m doing this for them!” he roared, the cavern shaking with the force of his voice. “For you! Don’t you see? The world is corrupt, broken. I’m the only one who can fix it.”Elara’s heart ached. How had it come to this? How had the man she once loved and respected fallen so far?“Father, please,” she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. “Don’t make me fight you.”His eyes softened for a brief moment, but then the coldness returned. “If you stand in my way, Elara, you leave me no choice.”Before Elara could react, Kael lunged forward, his sword drawn. But her father was faster. With a flick of his wrist, he sent Kael flying across the chamber, slamming him into the wall with a sickening thud.“Kael!” Elara screamed, rushing to his side. He was unconscious, his body limp against the stone.Her father turned back to the artifact, his hands glowing with the same sickly green energy that surrounded the orb. “It’s time, Elara. The power will be mine.”Elara’s heart raced as she drew her sword, the weight of the moment crashing down on her. She didn’t want to fight her father. But if she didn’t stop him now, the world would be lost.With a deep breath, she charged forward.
