It was june 23rd.
A day before my birthday.
I was showered with early birthday gifts, congratulations and compliments by friends and family.
Once 12 o-clock stuck,
Sunghoon was the first to greet me.
He stood at the front of our doorstep with flowers and my favorite snacks.
It was the best day ever.
With a wide smile, he said the first "Happy Birthday" I'd recieve that day.
I was happy with him.
Enjoying his radient smile and soft, fluffy hair between my fingers.
"Thank you!"
I swang my arms around his neck.
I took the snacks and flowers from his hand, putting it on the table. Before I allowed him inside.
It was only him and me alongside my family and friends ln videocall to sing me happy birthday. It was simple, only us beside each other, but I felt like this was the best part of our lives.
When the song was finished.
I opened the gifts my family and our friends sent me from our village.
The gifts were cute little wooden dolls and decore made by our hometown.
I missed our village alot..
Sunghoon looked at me, continuing to give me a smile. He placed a box onto my lap "Here's my gift.".
Inside the box was a beautiful and shiny golden necklace. He wrapped the necklace around my neck.
"It fits you so well!" He complimented me.
Even though I felt happy with his gift, I believed that he, himself was the best gift.
When our family started leaving the call, aswell as our friends. Me and Sunghoon were already eating the cake I baked.
My 21st birthday may have been bittersweet. But the smile he gave me was enough to satisfy my heart.
