Lauren had always hated plane rides. The feeling of being trapped and not being able to control everything around her, made her feel sick.

But if there was one thing she loved about airports and plane rides, it was observing other people. She wasn't a stalker, she simply loved watching people's reactions in certain scenarios.

She had been fascinated by people ever since she was just a child... Due to that, Lauren was great at reading people's minds and it was something she was really proud of. Her friends would always ask her for advice and it made her feel special, even if it was just for a second.

She wasn't used to feeling wanted though.... Maybe because of the fact that her parents never really cared about her. She would come home from school and would be all alone until late at night, nobody was there to listen to what she had to say, nobody that would dry her tears when she was sad... And even on days when her parents were physically there, she knew that they weren't mentally.

She couldn't tell how long she had been sitting in the departure lounge, waiting to finally board her flight from Miami to Italy, Rome to be precise. The brown haired girl had always wanted to go on vacation in Europe and now her dream was finally about to come true.

About half an hour later she was already sitting in the plane, by the window, next to a beautiful girl with chocolate- brown eyes. She couldn't help but be kind of intimidated by the other girls' beauty, pretty people always made her feel nervous.

"Hi, I'm Camila" the girl next to her suddenly whispered while smiling shyly.

"Lauren" she replied, knowing that Camila had probably noticed that she was lowkey staring at her and in her mind she was punching herself for making a fool out of herself at every given chance.

Embarrassed, Lauren turned her head and looked out of the window to avoid Camila's gaze, waiting for the plane to finally take off.

A few seconds later a blonde haired young girl with bright blue eyes took a seat next to Camila and Lauren furrowed her eyebrows, wondering where the young girl's family was, since she seemed to be around the age of seven and it was really unusual for such a young girl to travel all alone...

She tried to brush it off but she couldn't help but worry.

After everyone was informed about the safety constructions and the pilot introduced himself, the plane finally took off and Lauren felt relieved and it still felt surreal to her that in a few hours she would be in Italy. A huge weight was being lifted off of her shoulders and it felt great to finally get away from her family.

She looked around the other passengers and almost everyone seemed to be happily chatting with one another. Lauren's green orbs landed on the young girl next to Camila. She looked into her watery eyes but the young girl quickly broke their eye contact and gripped her seat as hard as she could, making her knuckles turn white.

Just when the green eyed girl was about to speak up, Camila started talking.
"Hey princess, are you okay?"
Lauren could tell that she was just as concerned as she herself was.

The blonde- haired girl quickly looked at the brown-eyed girl next to her but immediately broke their eye- contact and stared at the floor. A tear escaped her eyes and her lips were trembling.

"What's your name?" Camila asked, trying to reach out to the small child next to her.

"Lia" the young girl whispered, hiding her face behind her hands.

"That's an awesome name! I'm Camila by the way..." the brown eyed girl said and slowly placed her left hand on top of Lia's knee.

Camila suddenly noticed a pink princess bag, placed underneath the seat in front of them and turned to Lia. "Is that your bag?" she asked while pointing at it and the smaller girl nodded her head yes.
