The city wasn't exactly a model of harmony. Sure, on the surface, everything seemed calm—vampires and werewolves coexisting, both sides keeping to their roles.

The vampires, calling themselves the Lumina, had their claws deep in the government, playing puppet masters from the shadows.

The werewolves? They owned the streets. Their pack, led by Joss, kept the nightlife in check, handling the messy business of law enforcement in a way only a pack of wolves could.

It was a delicate balance, a system built on grudging respect and an unspoken agreement: don't step on each other's turf, and no one gets hurt. But everyone knew it was temporary.

It had always been a matter of 'when', not 'if' things would fall apart. Then, the bodies started piling up.Drained of blood, mutilated, and left for the wolves to find.

It didn't take long for accusations to fly. Werewolves blamed vampires. Vampires called it a setup.

The peace began to crack, and Joss, the Alpha of the werewolves, was suddenly forced into a tense alliance with Gawin, one of Lumina's most powerful—and most infuriating—vampires.

Joss had always hated vampires. But Gawin? He was a special kind of aggravating. Too smooth, too composed, always one step ahead and impossible to rattle.

Joss would've loved to put him in his place, rip through that calm exterior, if only his brain didn't short-circuit every time they locked eyes.As tensions in the city rose, so did the tension between them. And if the bodies kept piling up, it wouldn't be long before they were at each other's throats for real.

Peace had been nice while it lasted. But everyone knew the city wasn't built for it.
