That evening Matteo made his way to Rowan's room even without an invitation. They had slept in the same bed since their first day here, so there was no reason to change it. Besides, after today, Matteo felt he understood Rowan a little better. Maybe that was why the insecurity he felt around him had left him.
To his surprise, the villain wasn't in his room, as he'd expected, but he found him in the kitchen.
"Can't sleep?" He asked, though he hoped he was actually waiting for him.
Rowan didn't seem surprised by his presence. Quite the opposite. "I was thirsty," he replied, turning to face him and leaning his back against the counter.
"I guess we had the same idea." That wasn't the real reason he was here, but it was a good excuse to get closer. He walked over to the villain, stopping just in front of him, and before he could react, he took the glass from his hand and raised it to his lips, finishing the rest of the water in it. All the while, he maintained eye contact.
When the glass was empty, Matteo placed it on the counter next to Rowan without taking his eyes off him.
"Bunny," was the last thing that escaped Rowan's lips before Matteo grabbed his shirt in his hands and pulled him violently towards him, seizing his lips. The hero's attack on his lips was brutal, leaving him no room to defend himself. This left Rowan no choice but to cooperate.
Matteo's deft tongue quickly worked its way into the villain's mouth and a battle for dominance ensued. They both knew how it would end, however.
The hero's hips slammed into the villain's as he placed his hands on either side of him, limiting his chances of escape. Not that he needed it. With Matteo so close, he was perfectly content.
Rowan's fingers trailed along the nape of the blonde's neck, sending shivers down his spine before sinking fully into his hair.
Their passionate moment didn't last long though, as they were interrupted by an unidentifiable noise. It wasn't until Matteo looked over his shoulder that he realised the sound had come from Sawyer, who was definitely not prepared for the sight, and the only reaction he could muster was that yelp.
Both Matteo and Rowan remained staring at him, waiting to see if he would say anything, neither rushing to put any distance between them.
It was almost comical, the way he looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
"Sawyer?" In the end, Matteo took pity on him and addressed him.
The super-fast hero finally snapped out of his shock and cleared his throat. "I just wanted a cup of water." His voice still lacked confidence.
Since Rowan was still leaning close to the sink, he automatically shifted more to the right and Matteo mirrored his movement, staying close. He changed the position of his hands, however, for although one palm was still braced against the counter, the other rested casually on the villain's waist.
"Right." Sawyer didn't immediately move from his spot, wobbling in place before finally stepping forward and heading for the sink to get some water.
An amused smile appeared on Rowan's face, but before he could break into a laugh, Matteo shot him a warning look. The villain pouted and Matteo, who had never seen such an expression from him, almost melted on the spot.
Sawyer quenched his thirst in record time and, after placing his empty glass in the sink, said a quick "Good night" before turning and hurrying out of the kitchen without another word.
At this point Rowan couldn't take it any more and laughed briefly. "I feel like a parent who has just embarrassed their child." His statement drew a laugh from Matteo as well.
