Chapter 3

Author's POV

On Monday morning sunlight was streaming through Y/N's window, signaling the start of a new week.

She stood in front of her closet, choosing a vibrant outfit to match her office personality.

As usual, she was getting ready for the office, immersed in thoughts of Tae.

At home, she doesn't talk too much, but at the office, she is "Sunshine" - cheerful, talkative and always smiling.

However, behind closed doors, Y/N's reality was very different. Only she herself knew the real Y/N who's with her broken dreams and unrequited love. The one who cried herself to sleep, who struggled to find solace in a world that was determined to hurt her, and suffered in her past.

Y/N's POV

I came downstairs, "Good morning mom". I greet my mom

"Have a good day y/n" my mom said, handing me my lunchbox.

I smiled and said, "Goodbye, mom" And left for work,

I reached the office, and as soon as I entered the office, a smile automatically came on my face.

My office friend greeted me "Hello y/n, how are you" he said smiling.

"I am great, how was your weekend?" I asked him.

"As you know I always spend it with my lovely wife" he said with a big smile and blushing. So I teased him a lot.

Then I roamed from one desk to another, greeting my friends warmly. Finally I sat down at my desk.

Author's POV

As y/n sat at her desk, her friends started coming slowly, talking to her with warm smiles.

"Y/n, your laughter annoys me." Akki said, there was teasing affection in his voice.

Abhinav laughed, and said "I know, right? She doesn't need to come to our table, we can hear her voice from a distance and know that she has come here".

"Hey, hey, don't tease my baby!" Emily said, placing her hand on y/n's shoulder. "Her laughter is the best thing ever." Y/n blushed, giggling.

"Emily, you always support her like you're her lawyer!" Akki said, laughing out loud.

"Y/n, sweetheart, I think they are jealous of us," Emily teased, her smile shining. Akki rolled her eyes "Stop it, we are not jealous of you two. Akki said. They all laughed together.

On the other hand, Ava's eyes narrowed as she watched y/n's friends admire y/n's laughter and cheerful demeanor.

She couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy, whispering to her friend Srishti, "Why does y/n get all the attention? Why is she always the center of everything?"

Srishti's eyes then lingered on y/n's bright smile, "She thinks she's so perfect, doesn't she? Always laughing, always smiling. It's like she's trying to steal the spotlight." she said in jealousy. With a thoughtful smile, Ava and her friends began to spin a web of rumors and half-truths: "Do you know that y/n only acts friendly to get ahead? She's not as good as she seems, and you know what! She's having an affair with her friend Ryan."

Sophia's eyes widened, intrigue mingling with surprise. "No way! I always thought she was genuinely kind."

Ava leaned in, a conspiratorial whisper escaping her lips. "Trust me, Sophia, I've seen the way she flirts with Ryan. And have you noticed how often they 'accidentally' meet up outside work?"

Srishti nodded vigorously. "Exactly! She's manipulating everyone. That laugh, that smile - it's all an act."

Emily, sitting nearby, overheard the hushed conversation. Her eyes narrowed, sensing the malicious undertones.

"Hey, guys, what's going on?" Emily asked, her tone light but probing.

Ava swiftly masked her intentions. "Just discussing Taesa's amazing work ethic. Isn't she impressive?"

Emily's gaze lingered on Ava, detecting insincerity. "Yeah, Taesa's awesome. We're lucky to have her."

Sophia, now uncertain, turned to Emily. "Do you think y/n and Ryan are...?"

Emily's expression turned stern. "Absolutely not. They're just friends. Don't believe everything you hear."

Ava's smile faltered, her plan momentarily foiled.

Undeterred, Srishti whispered, "We'll see about that."

As the rumors began to spread, y/n remained oblivious, her bright smile and kind heart still shining.
