"What about Kyle?" Quinn asked, twirling her pencil around thoughtfully. It was lunchtime and as usual, she opted to complete homework instead of actually eating in the cafeteria. Except today, she seemed to think her homework involved finding me a boyfriend.
"I think Kyle and Eliza sounds cute," she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Kyle?" I raised my eyebrows at her. "You mean Power Ranger Kyle?"
Quinn sighed, exasperated. "Okay, it wasn't that bad."
"Quinn."
"Okay, okay!" she admitted, unable to help but laugh along with me. "But just because he wore a Power Ranger suit to school on Halloween doesn't mean that he's not a good person."
I laughed and shook my head at her. Where would I be without you, Quinn?
Anyway, Quinn decided that since it was senior year and I hadn't had a boyfriend yet, it was time to find me one. She neglected to acknowledge the fact that she herself had yet to even speak with a guy, save our teachers.
"Give up," I begged her.
Quinn continued on and ignored my consistent protests. "How about Jake? Chris? Jack? Fred? Bob?"
Did we even have a Fred at our school? Or a Bob?
"Please, make it stop," I moaned. "You're driving me crazy."
"That's what she said," my neighbor sidled up next to me. He stole half of my sandwich and Quinn stopped talking immediately, staring at Damon as if he were a god.
Which he pretty much was, at our school. Girls practically worshipped him. He wore leather jackets and occasionally smoked on school property.
And just to seal the bad boy deal, Damon owned a motorcycle. If it weren't for the fact that a. we grew up together and b. he drove me to school on his motorcycle, I would find him to be a very disgusting member of the male species.
"Shut up," I growled. "That wasn't even funny."
"I know," he said simply as he shoved the last bits of my sandwich into his mouth. "But it makes you angry."
"Hi, Damon," Quinn said. Apparently she didn't realize that she was a few seconds late due to the daze she was in from staring at him.
Damon chuckled and sent a slightly terrified glance to me. I held my hands up as if to say this one's on you. He shook his head at me.
"So what's happening over here?" Damon attempted to make conversation.
"We were talking about-"
"Boyfriends," Quinn interrupted and attempted to make a seductive face.
"Or lack thereof," I muttered but it didn't escape Damon's notice.
He smirked. "Aw, did Lizzie finally get tired of her cats?" he mocked me and Quinn burst out laughing like it was the funniest thing ever.
"How 'bout him?" Damon joked, referring to the boy who had just entered the cafeteria.
I looked over to find the most hated person in the school. His cocky attitude and condescending voice caused him to be a huge outcast, even more so than the weird kid who still picked his nose and occasionally ate it.
"Gag me," I rolled my eyes.
My eyes scanned the arrogant b.astard as he strolled through the cafeteria. His brown hair was combed and gelled to perfection as usual. His blazer was deep blue and he looked like a snobby prep school kid with his nose turned up at everything.
He was a magnet for most of the hatred and jealously in the school. His parents were easily the richest people in town, and he made sure that everyone knew it.
Plus, he managed to match his shirt with his pants, a feat that I myself was still struggling with.
Despised by all, envied by most, he was the guy that everyone's parents wished their kids would become.
He was an a.sshole.
And his name was William Prince.
