Peter Parker, better known around town as Spider-Man, got a crucial lead. A highly wanted criminal had been holed up in an old abandoned amusement park; a once-trendy hot spot now filled with disrepair and darkness. Peter had always felt a deep civic obligation to protect the innocents; thus, he quickly was deep into action to apprehend the criminal and bring protection back to his neighborhood. He walked through the rusting rides, structures that once rang with the noise of children's laughter, oblivious to the danger lurking within-twisted, steel-mangled remains of joy and laughter.
As he ventured deeper into the park, his instincts, heightened over the years by experience, still led him, but he was not ready for the sudden assault that would hit him. He had been expecting it, but the criminal immediately had Peter backpedaling to a corner. A huge battle exploded between the two, through what was left of the amusement park. The fight was raging and violent as the criminal used anything and everything to try to defeat the young boy.
During the battle, he received life-threatening injuries leaving him battered, bruised, and finally, unable to move.In one calculated move, the criminal broke loose, leaving Peter far behind in a dangerous manner, bleeding on the ground within the barren confines of the park. It was as if time took a standstill with the echoes of abandoned attractions.
Days merged into an agonizing blur as the sprawling city went on, ignorant of its missing hero, who had been left forgotten and isolated in this abandoned place. With every passing moment, Peter was losing strength, his life slipping away in silence as the grimness of reality wore down to the most desperate.
When he was finally found, it was too late. The much-needed medical help finally came for Peter when the damage had already reached a significant level. Lying in this setting, formerly filled with high spirits, now dulled and defeated, still unconscious. This park was now him nothing but as a reminder of the tragedy that lay in wait for him, an evil contrast to the hero he once was. The laughs that were once reverberating in the air haunted him, convincing himself he would never make it home.
