Journal entry #899 I won't make it till high school.
Haruki was right, life is not worth it.
Yelling, screaming, scolding, that's all I get from Mom and Dad. My little siblings love seeing me get in trouble. Daichi is in his own world.
I get why Haruki did what he did, and I think I'm going to do the same. Not now, I think after graduation or right before high school.
Maybe we'll be reunited wherever he is. Maybe I'll experience happiness again. Maybe, just maybe, I'll be allowed to smile, even if it's just once.
I'm sorry, Journal number 8, this is not what I expected to be your last entry. I'll make it up to you in Journal number 9.

Five years later.
Dear Daichi,
I apologize for writing this later than planned. Yuu and I have been in the far countryside of Japan, so sending and receiving letters has been difficult. Regarding your last letter, congratulations on your promotion! I knew you'd get it. I can't believe you were so nervous (according to your letter). Sugawara wrote and mentioned how you called him in a panic the night before the interview. Man, what I would pay to witness that.
Anyways, Yuu and I have been doing great. While exploring Miyazaki, Yuu and I had helped this European tourist while he was backpacking. We actually ended up having similar itineraries so we joined together and explored all of Miyazaki. He had started in the south of Japan and was making his way north. Meanwhile, Yuu and I started north and headed south. Since he knew we were planning on traveling the world, he invited us to stay with him whenever we got to Europe. He said he'd gladly give us a tour of Europe and backpack with us.
Speaking of traveling the world, Asahi is actually coming with Yuu and me on our future trip to Egypt. I will say I was surprised that he joined, especially since it's, you know, Asahi. Maybe one day (you don't get a choice, I will make Sugawara force you), you can come with me and Yuu and join us. As I mentioned, you have no choice because I want there to be a page in Yuu's adventure book with the three of us, so submit your PTO as soon as possible.
