CHAPTER 4

ATALIYAH MENDEZ||
📍Police Station.

"I want to speak to my fada" I said to the police who put me in a questioning room.

I look over at Monique but she only shrug with no care in the room.

All of this is weird because I don't need to sit in questioning room to give my statement.

A dat mi a say too.

"He is not here, and what did u say the guy look like" he ask calmly.

His question cause Mo to sit up straight and we both look at each other.

U never tell him your reason here.

When I came here I only said I wanna file a report.

"I don't remember... mi wan go weh and u can't hold me against my will worst wen mi nuh do nothing" I said as polite as possible.

"U don't remember or u didn't see the person" he ask with his hand behind his back.

A better wi shut up wi mouth enuh...

"I didn't see the person" I said feeling like dats the right answer.

The look on his face only indicate that I choose the right answer.

He nods and I stand when he opens the door.

He steps aside and we exit the room.

Monique takes my hand and we walk together. We round the corner to go to the entrance area.

"Him definitely knw someting" Mo whisper and I shove her shoulder.

"Not now when we reach outside" I said through clench teeth and smile at the lady police at the front desk.

"I will see u around Miss Mendez" the police voice stop me and I nod without looking back.

I know my father isn't in no big position so I don't want to cause any trouble.

I will speak to him another time or just probably figet about it. Afterall he said he won't come back.

And u believe dat...

Not really but mi just a hope everything go back to normal.

We walk to my Honda accord and I quickly press the button on my key fob.

"U think him knw something" Mo ask when I drive out the Constant Spring police station.
