Kaliyuga, Bhavnani House
The kitchen curtain sways gently in the breeze, stirred by the soft rain falling outside. With the rhythmic patter of raindrops against the window adding a quiet, soothing melody to the stillness of the night. The air smells faintly of damp earth, cool and fresh, as the breeze slips through the slightly open window. The kitchen is dimly lit, with only the soft glow of a single overhead light casting gentle shadows across the room. It's well past midnight, and the house is quiet except for the occasional creak of settling wood. The faint glow of the kitchen light casts long shadows, accentuating the peacefulness of the late hour.
The young Amara Bhavnani sitting on the edge of the cool kitchen slab, her legs drawn up, her short figure wrapped in her mother's shawl, watching her mother who has just returned from USA, with her eyes heavy with sleep, but she still smiles looking at her as there's a sense of comfort in this quiet.
Shawl - a piece of fabric worn by women over the shoulders
Her mother, still in her formal clothes, is standing by the sink, drinking a glass of water. The sound of the water as it flows from the tap into the glass is calming in the stillness of the night. Her movements are slow, deliberate, as if unwinding from the long evening. The faint clink of the glass against the countertop is the only sound breaking the silence.
Amara:
(Dangling her feet in air) Maa, (yawning) i feel soooo dead and you know shivi too has not connect me from the morning.
Sitara:
(Comes near her and taps her right cheek) It's ok honey, he called me, would not come today.
Amara:
(Leans to her touch) And What about bhai, he was along you, where is he? (makes a sad pout)
While Sitara smiles watching her little bundle of joy, Pallavi resting on the couch shakes her head and asked
Pallavi:
Yes aunty, you must tell her, you know she was going to get you from the airport but kya kre madam ko car chalne nhi ati (with a mocking smile to which Amara makes an irritating face)
Sitara:

Amara:
