The party was buzzing. People in and out and everywhere you looked. The group and I decided to split and meet up around 3 for a hang out later. I hung around, trying to talk to others but ultimately ended up sitting against the wall, people watching.
The whole night just felt off. I wasn't even supposed to be here! Yoongi was acting strange, Bianca was a party monster, I couldn't stop thinking of work, I hadn't seen Irene in what felt like a-
"Hey."
And there he was again. The world went quiet. And just his voice was there. I turned to see Taehyung, leaning with me with a small smile, tiredness clearly showing through his eyes. "Not having fun?" He asked
I smiled slightly back. "Oh I'm fine....nice party-"
"Not mine not mine," he chuckled, putting up his hands. "All Bianca's idea. Didn't want to go to my aunts-"
"Oh shit-" I smacked my forehead. "I completely forgot about Lings, I should've gone to see hers."
"I mean..." he began with a slight devilish smirk. "We can always party hop out of here for an hour. I mean would people notice?"
I gave him bug eyes. He sounded crazy, like this wasn't at his apartment. Not to mention, doesn't it look suspicious if he left with a random girl? NUH UH. I AINT NO HOMEWRECKER. NOT MY STYLE
"Oh you're crazy crazy huh" I scoffed. "Sir-"
"Taehyung, not sir here." He clarified.
"Taehyung-"
"Oh come on, no one's gonna notice I'm even gone! Bianca steals the show anyway! I gotta go say hi anyway and you love Lings parties. We're killing two birds with one stone!"
I pointed out to the crowd. "Taehyung there so gonna notice! You're the host! Not to mention this looks super suspicious! Even if it means nothing! Plus, I got to hang with people after the party-"
"Y/n." He said in a calm but confident tone. His smile was warm and filled with life. "We're just party hopping. We're not doing anything wrong. No one is going to know we left for more than 5. We'll leave for 2-3 hours, and come back before anyone knows."
We stared quietly at one another. There was such confidence in his gaze. Silently, there was this pull, the plea to go for him. It felt like looking at a child dying to go to the zoo.
Girl just go at this rate, do it for the lore
Slowly, our connection softened. A trust grew and I couldn't deny him. I let go of my breath in a sigh and nodded softly.
"Party hopping.." I quietly said.
"That's all there is to it." He smiled.

"Taehyung? Y/n?........okay I'm not sure how I feel about this picture right here."
Well we made it. Slightly unwelcomed but hey what can ya do? Taehyung and I stood awkwardly in front of Lings Apartment, both with semi uncomfortable smiles. We both could admit it was a strange sight.
Taehyung opened his arms for a hug. "Auntie!"
Ling just stared with a glare. "What's this funny business boy?...We sent you to college for strict business, not funny business-" she became cut off by me
"Ling, nothings happening I promise. We came from the same party, we just thought coming together would be easier. Truly."
She looked at me with the same glare as Taehyung. Wow. Tension as thick as frozen butter. Finally, she dropped it and sighed, turning back into the party. "Alright, come in."
Inside, the party was popping. People dancing all around, loud music blasting, the countdown on the tv, it was cozy! Much cozier than Taehy- I mean Bianca's party. It felt like the moment the door closed behind me, all my worries melted.
Suddenly, I felt Taehyungs hand gently touch my back. "C'mon, let's get something." He whispered over to me, looking at me with the same comforted aura.
We walked further into the party and felt right at home. Time flew before we knew it. It was all just so...natural. We stuck together yet we didn't need to. I mean, it may everyone look at us a bit strange, but once we clarified why were together, everyone eased up. Soon enough, the countdown began! Everyone yelled as we watched the tv, getting ready for the new year. I glanced over at Taehyung, just watching his expression. He caught me glancing and looked back at me.
There was just this change in him. It's hard to describe. At his party, he seemed bored. His eyes just showed it. Here? There was life. There was happiness. We just smiled at each other. No need to speak.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" Everyone yelled in unison, but we didn't say a thing. Confetti popped, people kissed and hugged, and we just looked at one another. We didn't even move. Finally, Ling hugged Taehyung, making us break our gazes. Sandwiches and hugs thrown around until eventually we had to leave.
The ride back was silent and we didn't really talk until we got to the apartment. We stared at the front door, hearing the commotion from the other side. Taehyung sighed.
"Dont wanna go in?" I questioned with a slight giggle, watching the life drain from him.
"Not really..it's nothing against everyone I just..you know it's not really my party." He said lowly.
"Hey come on, it could be worse-"
"I just wanted a few friends.." he blurted. "Bianca..I love her but I didn't want this.." he looked at me and smiled sadly. "Thanks for hopping with me.."
I smiled back. "Anytime.."
We looked back at the door and finally went back in. Everyone was chatting away like as if we never left. We went our own ways, mine to Irene and Taehyung to Bianca, not looking back at one another. The rest of the night, we didn't cross paths, and we wouldn't for another two weeks after that.
