This O.S. is based on the events that could have taken place post-episode 42.

Author's Note: They both have the same character arcs that were shown to us in the show.
It's just an alternate universe where things could have turned better. Although, I dont claim it as a fix-it!

"Tumhein tumhare hisse Ki Azadi Mubarak Ho Meerab", Her mind kept replaying the sentence again and again, like a curse, like an unnamed tainted spell, making her heart tear apart at the realisation. He had freed her. From him, from their relation, from his heart. But this was not what she wanted, she wanted him, she wanted them. The independence came with its own shackles, just like an invisible weight had been bound by her heart, weighing it down, numbing her in the process.

She had been wrong, so wrong. She had weighed him down, she had shattered his trust, she had insulted his love and now, he had left her.

It felt like an opera playing right in front of her eyes, had come to full circle, after almost eight months, there she was, standing right in front of the door that had once been closed in her face. And tonight felt like a cursed replay of the exact scene that was executed months ago. The door still remained closed, just like the various paths of her life, rendering her alone. Months ago, he had proved himself as her anchor, and ironically, today, he was the one who had abandoned her. Where was her true identity? They had butchered her personality to the brink of no return. They had played with her like a mere doll. And now she had enough.

Months ago, she had cried, yelled and begged at the same door but today, her resolve had broken, she was broken, and she did not have the energy to go and beg again.

The door was closed, and not comprehending the rights or wrongs, she pivoted on her heel to go out of the residence. Just as she opened the iron gate, the view that greeted her, left her shocked and emotional, all at once.

He was leaning by his car, his hand skimming across his agony-painted face. He was in pain.
And that irked her. He was still there. Was he waiting for her?

Before she could stop herself, her feet moved past the gate, and words rolled off her tongue, "Abhi tak Gaye nahi tum?" she asked through a hoarse voice and teary eyes, and he jolted out of his trance.

He looked at her intently and asked in a curt voice, "Tum bhi toh yahin Ho".

Her lips curled in a crooked smile and she enunciated, "Main toh beghar hoon, Maine kahan jana hai". Her tears blurred her vision but she refused to let them fall and blinked them away rapidly which did not go unnoticed by him.

And the wave of realisation hit him again. The same realisation that had rendered his feet unable to move past the place where he had left her. The realisation that had made him come back again and wait till dawn so that he would apologise for leaving her alone. But just as he had taken in her form, her broken state left him agonized. He did exactly what others did to her. He had broken her.

The Curt facade slipped, the stone-turned orbs melted and how, just like someone had infiltrated love, guilt, and pain in him, all at once, making his eyes gleam with the emotions that threatened to spill.

His frame was no longer taut, his shoulders had slumped, and he strode forward, towards her.
"Meerab", he whispered whilst grabbing the same wrist he'd clutched a few minutes ago whilst dropping her there.

She looked at his morphed composure and confusion hazed her senses. A lone tear spilt past her tear duct as his warm fingers touched her again. She took in a deep breath to calm her racing thoughts, looked directly into his sheened orbs, and whispered between them with a voice choked with emotions, " Tumne azaad kar hi diya hai toh yahan moujood rehne ka Kya fayeda, Jao".
