Orca's Pov:

It was Daisy's eleventh birthday! It had been 318 days since she arrived at the orphanage and it had been amazing. I must admit, it had been annoying because I had not been able to intimidate the new rivals and bullies since she arrived, but it was ok, I had a sister in everything but blood. For the first time I can remember in my eight years of life, I was happy.

We had been working together to develop our magical skills. She still couldn't control her magic like I could but I could float objects; change the colour of anything I want, even Miss Cole's hair; and I could even speak to snakes!

There was a knock on the door and Daisy went to answer it. I heard a loud chorus of 'Happy birthday Daisy'. All the children seemed to adore her, unfortunately. It made it even harder for me to test out my abilities on live subjects.

When they eventually cleared off, I presented a brown package.

"Happy birthday!" I enthusiastically squeal with a toothy grin.

"Thank you!" She replied excitedly and opened the package.

It was a Daisy chain that I made her to signify our friendship. She beamed down at me for it. I, however, was extremely disheartened that I couldn't get her a proper present. Miss Cole never gives me pocket money.

One: because freaks of nature, like me, don't deserve pocket money.

Two: because I couldn't be bothered to do chores for something as subjective as a few pounds.

So I had to settle for crafting a present. I did, however, will my magic to make it so the flowers would never wilt so it wouldn't break either.

We spent most the day playing out in the playground until Daisy was called in and I went to read under my tree.

Daisy's Pov

I skipped over to Miss Cole and asked, "What did you need me for, Miss?"

She smiled at me and spoke in a cheery voice, "You have a family visitor, she is waiting in the meeting room."

I instantly brightened up and practically sprinted into the meeting room to see my Aunt Milly. I leapt over to her and gave her a massive hug.

"Aunt Milly! What are you doing here?" I asked excitedly.

"I've been looking everywhere for you," she replied with a large smile and presents a Hogwarts letter, "I finally managed it when I found your letter!"

I felt myself tearing up. I'm going home. I'm going to Hogwarts and Aunt Milly is taking me from this horrid place. Without much thought, Aunt Milly signed some forms and I packed my bags. I was off. Away from this place.

If I wasn't so caught up, I'd have remembered my best friend waiting for me to come back under a tree.

Orca's Pov

I walked back into my room to see Daisy's side empty. Weird I thought.

I heard footsteps and Miss Cole appeared in the door and sneered at me, "She left. I suppose she finally saw you for what you are, a freak. Didn't even seem to remember you." With an annoyingly high pitched shrieky cackle, she stalked off.

Before I knew it, I had collapsed to the floor with water cascading down my cheeks and my eyes stinging from producing the salty show of sorrow and anger.

My skin started to feel extremely tingly and the air started to feel as if it was suffocating me. I glare into the mirror in front of me and notice my green and brown eyes glowing a spine chilling blue while the ground and whole building seems to start shaking.

She left me

Crack

She left me

Crack

SHE LEFT ME

Crack

She. Left. Me.

Crack

SHE. LEFT. ME.

BOOM! The mirror broke and sprayed shards all over the room but I didn't care. I didn't even notice the sharp pieces starting to become embedded in my flesh or the blood torrenting down my limbs. All I could feel was betrayal.

I couldn't trust anyone again. I couldn't let anyone have that deep of a connection with me ever again. Those connections always end in pain. I vowed something to myself that day.

I would never develop that deep of a connection with anyone for as long as I live.
