Oh, cause now all the things that we said and done
Twisted around, turned 'em wrong
Feels like all the love is gone
We lost it
We get stuck up inside our heads
Talk shit 'til we're walking dead
Talk shit 'til we're walking dead (dead dead)

Why do we care about the rumors, baby?
Yeah, why do we care about the rumors, baby?
Oh, cause I don't need to lie to you
You'll never break my heart
Yeah, you'll find the truth here in my arms
So can you tell me why do we care about the rumors, baby?

The envy runs deep
The jealousy down low
It's easy to see
But it's harder to let go
We ain't gonna hide (we ain't gonna hide)
We know what they don't know
A hell of a ride
I swear I'll hold you close

"Fucking hell, Cal," Jason snapped in angry concern as they walked down the road, Callum practically shuddering beside him. "What in the name of god is your problem, dude?"

Callum shot him a nasty look. "Didn't we get over this? Like, two years ago?"

Jason shrugged his jacket off one arm, wrapped his arm around Callum's shoulders, then tugged the jacket around them both. Callum shivered at the sudden warmth, clearly grateful when Jason grabbed both his hands between his left and attempted to warm them up. It was fucking summer, and his boyfriend was freezing.

"You're defective," he stated flatly. "I know it's not exactly warm, considering its July, but jesus, this is ridiculous. I feel like I need to buy you a personal heater for Christmas to make sure you don't get hypothermia while I'm at uni."

Callum rolled his eyes. "I did survive winters before you came along, you know."

"I really don't know how," Jason retorted. "Remember that first night we spent together in that motel in Seattle? Just before Christmas?"

He grimaced. "Yeah."

"I was fucking scared to move away from you in case your fingers fell off or something." Not that I was complaining, he added in his head. It had been an amazing night. As though to prove his point, he curled their fingers more closely together, pressing the warmth of his palm into Callum's icy fingertips.

"Alright, alright! I get cold easily! I know. You don't have to be such a jerk about it."

And aw, if cold, grumpy, slightly-pouting Callum wasn't adorable as hell, then Jason didn't know what was. He smiled and pressed a kiss to Callum's rouge-tinted cheek. His face only flushed darker, and his expression morphed into a scowl.

"I hate you," Callum muttered.

"No you don't," Jason said confidently. They approached Jason's house, and he felt Callum's eyes on him, though he didn't look down at his boyfriend. He was worried enough about this as it was. "Not yet, anyway," Jason added.

Callum gripped his fingers tighter, gaining his attention. "I promise, whatever happens in there, I will look at you in exactly the same way. I'm not judging you based on the people around you. I never have, and I'm not going to start now. Okay?"

Jason swallowed. If only Callum knew. He'd always wanted to tell him the truth, but there had never really been an easy opening. On the one time they had sidled onto the topic, Jason had been terrified of shattering Callum's vision of him. Cowardly, he knew.
