Kevin gestured to the makeshift board, covered in photos, notes, and connections. "This is how my dad had his Jason Blossom murder board before it was trashed."
Jughead's eyes scanned the board, intrigue sparking. "Any leads on who did that? Or what they were looking for?"Victoria's gaze remained fixed on Kevin, her expression intent.
Kevin shook his head. "Nope. No fingerprints. But they stole a bunch of files, background checks, and all video and audiotapes of police interviews."
The group's discussion halted abruptly as the door to the Blue & Gold swung open.Conversations ceased, heads turned, and eyes locked onto the newcomer. The room fell silent, anticipation hanging heavy in the air.
"Hey, Betty," Trev said with a bright but awkward smile as Betty sat up, returning the smile. "Trev, hi!" she said.
Trev glanced around at everyone before looking back at Betty. "Oh, no... Uh, it's okay. We're just, uh, working on..." Betty stammered.
"Our murder board," Jughead finished for her. Betty smiled awkwardly at Trev, while Victoria looked at him and chuckled softly. "Really, Jones?" Victoria said with a chuckle and an eye roll.
Trev's bright smile remained as he asked, "So, we're still on for tomorrow, right?"Betty nodded, her smile warm. "Absolutely, it's a date."
She paused, her words tumbling out in a flustered rush. "I mean, I'll... I'll see you there. Bye."Betty's hand waved awkwardly as Trev chuckled."Peace out. See ya," Trev said, his smile unwavering as he departed.
Betty's soft smile lingered. "Peace out. Bye."As the door closed behind Trev, Betty's gaze dropped, her cheeks flushing.
Kevin raised an eyebrow, teasing. "Going on a date with Trev? Does Mama Cooper know about that?"
Betty playfully rolled her eyes. "Kev, I'm not on house arrest."She glanced away, a hint of mischief in her voice. "Besides, she's out of town at a Women in Journalism spa retreat."
Victoria chuckled softly. "Save it, Betty. You literally just called it a date."Jughead chimed in, amusement lacing his tone. "Yeah, those exact words: 'it's a date'."
Betty's smile turned coy as she walked around the room. "That was just cover. Really, it's an intelligence gathering mission."Her gaze locked onto Kevin. "We should focus on the one thing we have access to that your dad doesn't."
Kevin's curiosity piqued."The kids at Riverdale High," Betty continued. "Maybe Trev knows something about Jason he didn't think was important."
Kevin's eyes narrowed, understanding. "You're using Trev for info."Betty's expression turned resolute. "Whatever it takes to uncover the truth."
