Irene's gaze caught on one person in particular, and the rest of the room seemed to blur—Noey, the owner of Onyx Bar. Irene's heart skipped a beat, her pulse quickening as her eyes locked onto the woman she hadn't been able to stop thinking about since their brief encounter at the bar.

Noey sat there, poised and confident, commanding the room without even trying. As Irene entered, their eyes met, and Noey's soft smile caught Irene off guard. For a moment, it was as if the ground shifted beneath Irene, the room shrinking around them, leaving just the two of them in an electric moment of recognition.

Irene: [thinking to herself] "It's her... What are the chances?"

Irene quickly composed herself, slipping her professional mask back into place, though the flutter in her chest lingered. She walked over to the table, legs feeling lighter than usual, and took her seat next to Richie, who was oblivious to the tension in the room.

Richie: [grinning] "Perfect timing, Irene. Let's get this deal locked down."

But Irene barely heard him. Her mind was still spinning, eyes flicking back to Noey whenever she thought no one was watching. Noey, seemingly unaware of the effect she had on Irene, was fully engaged in the discussion, her sharp mind working through the deal's details.

Sitting next to Noey, Sam noticed the brief exchange between the two women but kept her thoughts to herself, dividing her focus between the business at hand and her own distractions from earlier.

The meeting moved forward, with Richie confidently laying out the specifics of the proposed deal between Onyx Bar and Phoenix Bar. The plan was straightforward: merge Onyx into Phoenix, expanding the brand's reach in the U.S., with Noey as CEO of Phoenix Bar.

Richie: [with practiced ease, opening the file in front of him] "We're proposing full integration. Noey, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations while maintaining the distinct identity that's made Onyx what it is. We handle the strategic scaling and backend support. You keep the creative control."

Noey, though still reflecting on her earlier glance with Irene, refocused. Business came first. She wasn't easily distracted.

Noey: [calm and measured] "I appreciate the proposal, Richie, but I need clarity on autonomy. Onyx thrives because of its community-focused brand. I don't want that diluted by corporate structure. Can we guarantee that?"

Richie nodded, flipping through the contract.

Richie: [reassuringly] "Absolutely. We've built a framework that keeps Phoenix Bar out of Onyx's branding and customer-facing decisions. You'll have full control over that. We'll provide resources for expansion, but no interference with the creative side."

As the conversation shifted to specifics, Sam leaned in, her eyes scanning the documents before offering her own input.

Sam: [calm but firm] "That's a good start, but we need to think beyond autonomy. A phased integration would minimize disruption. Onyx has its own culture, and a sudden merge could alienate loyal customers. A gradual transition allows both brands time to align."

Her directness caused Richie to pause and nod in appreciation. Irene, observing from across the table, took note of how Sam cut through the matter with precision—no fluff, just clarity.
