Klaudia sat across from Yamato with a doubtful look on her face. He almost laughed as he looked at her expression. They were currently sitting in the middle of one of the practice fields. Kakashi had advised after his own encounter with Sarah to make sure no one else was around while trying to awaken her powers. He grinned at her.
"You're going to do just fine, love," Yamato encouraged. "Now, close your eyes and I want you to quiet your mind and reach inside yourself. You'll know when you touch your chakra with your mind."
Klaudia folded her hands together in the position of the Tiger as he had previously shown her before closing her eyes. She was not sure what she was supposed to be doing exactly. She focused on her breathing and cleared her thoughts. It took a long moment but she started becoming aware of something bigger and deeper inside herself. Her breathing slowed and she felt her mind slip inward. She felt energy and power with her mind. It was warm like fire and in her mind, she saw purple flames. She reached out for it and gasped as the flames engulfed her. The power was unreal but at the same time she felt a rush from it.
"Klaudia!" Yamato's voice came to her from what seemed like miles away.
Abruptly she was yanked out of the place her mind had gone. She blinked as she looked at Yamato, who had created a shell around them both. "What happened?"
"You turned purple all over," Yamato responded seriously. "You looked a lot like what Sarah does except she's blue and you were purple. I didn't know what was going to happen because Sarah blew Kakashi a good 20 feet one of the first times she did that."
She shifted her eyes to the shell around them then to him. "Tenzo... you didn't put protection around yourself though..."
He smiled slightly, "I was ready in case I needed to but I wanted to try to pull you back before then."
She smiled at him, "You're absolutely priceless, Tenzo." She then smiled, "It was amazing, though. It felt warm. I can still feel it inside me... that's strange, I wasn't aware of it before."
"You've awakened to it," he responded with a grin. "Now that you're in touch with your chakra, we can start working on it. First... we should see which nature you are."
Yamato put a piece of chakra paper in her hand and it immediately incinerated and turned to ash. He chuckled, "Wow, fire. Interesting." He removed the wood barrier that was around them. "We'll do some chakra control techniques and go over a few hand signs. We'll see where your inclinations go more towards... whether Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, or Genjutsu."
Yamato was stunned when after a short while she was able to cast a Genjutsu. He looked around the images surrounding him. As he turned back to look at her, he was shocked to see that her eyes were glowing that same purple she had taken on earlier. She gave him a slight smile, "This was my home in my world." She looked around. "I can't believe I'm creating this... it's amazing."
He decided not to say anything about her appearance. She looked so pleased he didn't want to disrupt what she was doing. It amazed him, though, how her appearance changed like Sarah's did. Melissa did not inherit that trait that he was aware of and Misti didn't do anything other than Taijutsu. Interesting.
The surroundings shifted and changed. He found himself outside and was stunned by the beauty of the place they were standing. She smiled at him. "This was my favorite place to go when I was able to slip away."
"It's beautiful here," he said as he looked around. "Incredible."
Abruptly the Genjutsu was broken and Klaudia weaved a little on her feet. Yamato cursed under his breath and caught her before she could fall to the ground. "Wow... I feel so dizzy."
"You used too much chakra and that is my fault for not stopping you sooner," he responded as she swept her up into his arms. "It takes a while to learn how to control how much chakra to use at any given time. You did exceptional today, Klaudia. I'm amazed."
Klaudia smiled up at him, "I'm glad I can do it. Now I won't be completely useless when those bastards come."
Yamato looked down at her with concern, "I'd prefer you stay out of it. Let us take care of them. This is just to make sure you can protect yourself if you absolutely need to."
She gave him a tired smile as he continued walking towards their home. "I want to help if I can, Tenzo."
"Leave it to the professionals, love," he spoke softly to her. "You're only just learning. The rest of us have been doing this for a long while now. It will make me feel better knowing you are safe when all of this blows up."
"What about me?"
He tilted his head to the side as he looked down at her, "What do you mean?"
"What about how I'll feel about you being out in the front line in danger? Tenzo... I don't want to lose you, not after finding you."
His dark eyes softened and he stopped to kiss her. When he pulled back his face turned a bit pink as he noticed how many pairs of eyes were on them, "You have a way of making me forget where I am at."
Klaudia laughed and rested her head on his chest, "Hmm. Good. You're so serious most of the time. It is good for you to be distracted occasionally."
"I'm thinking not so much in the middle of town," he responded ruefully as he quickened his pace back to their home.
Klaudia enjoyed being carried back home then almost giggled as he ran straight up the stairs with her to take her to the bedroom. The glint in his eyes told her that they would be up there for a little while.
A few hours later, she ran her fingers up and down his bare chest as he stared at the ceiling in comfortable silence. She tilted her head up to look at him from where she had rested it on his chest. "Tenzo, it's a shame we had to postpone the party."
"Yeah, but we just can't risk being tipsy when they make their appearance," he responded. "The ANBU are spread out and watching for anything out of the ordinary. The minute something is identified they're to report immediately to the Hokage and keep a discreet distance until we arrive to deal with the situation."
"I hope we don't have to wait long," she responded softly. "I just want it to be over."
Tenzo rubbed her back, "So do I. I'm ready to create a life with you without shadows looming in the background."
