The dim light flickers from the broken bulb above lyric stands in the living room, her arms folded tightly across her chest.
The tension in the room is thick and the silence is deafening, Trevon her boyfriend her high school sweetheart, paces back and forth clearly agitated.
His fists clench and unclenched the weight of the streets pulling him towards the door.
"Trevon I can't do this no more everytime u walk out that door I don't know if your ass is coming back, u say it's for us? but how is it for us" Lyric said with pain and agony in her voice.
Trevon stops in front of her "I'm doing what I gotta do Lyric you knew what it was when u met me, this life is all I got what u want me to do walk away just like that" Tre yelled
Lyric stepped closer with her eyes filled with tears and anger "I want u to stay I want you to choose us for once instead of the streets, but if u can't do that Trevon ,don't even think about coming back"
Trevon's face hardening eyes searching hers for a moment "you serious" she swallows blinking back the tears that threaten to spill over. Her heart pounds in her chest but she stands firm, her eyes locked on his.
"Dead serious"Lyric says.
Trevon looks at her, his jaw clenched, torn between the life he knows and the girl infront of him. The door looms behind him, an escape but also a line that he knows he can't uncross. He hesitates for a moment.
Lyrics voice was more firm now then ever she wasn't gonna keep getting put 2nd if this is what he really wanted he would not walk out that door, "if u walk walk out that door Trevon don't come back Not ever."
They stare at each other the air thick with unspoken words.
Finally , Trevon turns, the door creaks as he opens it, the sound echoing like a gunshot through the silence.
Without looking back he steps through letting the door close softly behind him.
Lyric stands frozen, the silence that follows feeling like the end of everything her eyes stung with tears when she finally realizes that he was gone...
