A Serpent's Touch

Chapter 1

Enid is hanging out with Yoko and the others. They were talking about how they celebrated their summer vacation. However, Enid is quiet, it's quite unusual of her but something baffles her mind. It's about what happened to her three weeks ago that still gave her bewilderment.

Three weeks ago

Enid in her red hoodie and black cargo pants was walking in the alley way, it's the only shortcut going back to her home. Though, some burglars do roam around there especially at night that's why she doesn't often use this route unless if she is in a hurry. Since it's past her curfew and she wouldn't want her mother to scold her again so she used the route, she was skeptical about it but she hav no other choice.

She was relieved that no one was there as she near passed the alley way when someone called her out.

"Hey there girl" a low raspy voice was heard that send shivers to her body. She turns around to see a guy that is pretty much old with his long beard. His clothes was also wrinkled and old.

He gave her a grin as he walks towards her. She gave him a warning look.

"Don't you dare walk closer to me" her voice was fierce, vigilant to whatever the guy will do to her.

He stops and gave her a grin that frightened her.

"Oh don't be scared little girl" he starts to walk again in a quick pace. Enid was ready to defend herself as she has extended her claws when someone suddenly dragged him pinning him against the wall that cracked because of the impact.

"Get off me!" the guy shouted at the person with it's cloak covered her back down to it's thighs and a black pants which covered it's whole appearance.

The guy groaned as he was drag higher bu his neck. He glances down at the and terror was now plastered in his face. Suddenly, his eyes turned fiery, he screamed in agony as the flame rushed through his body.

He screamed again.

and again.

and again.

Until his scream was no longer heard, his body turned into fiery dust. The guy was gone in a blaze.

The person tilts it's head with it's right hand, glowing ablaze from the effect just now.

The glow soon disappeared as well as the person who flew just above the building completely out of her sight.

She was left astounded and bewildered by what happened just now, and the fact that she also witnessed the guy burned alive in front of her.

"Yo Enid" Yoko called out, trying to get Enid's attention. Enid snapped from her thought.

"Huh?" confusion plastered in her face "What?"

The vampire chuckled "What's wrong with you today, you've been really quiet for the past minutes"

Enid pursed her lips "Just thinking of something"

"That's some thought you have there" she chuckled. The others laughed as well.

Enid rolled her eyes "What were you guys talked about anyways"

"Well, we were just talking about the new student" Bianca stated.

Enid narrowed her brows "We have a new student?"

"Yep" Yoko nods "and she will be coming here tomorrow"

"Oh yeah, she will be your roommate also" Divina added with a grin in her face.

"She?" she didn't expect she will have a roommate, and it's a girl also. It's not that she complains about who she will share a room with. She didn't fixed the room yet so she was startled when Divina said that.

"Yeah?" the siren let out a chuckle "it's not like you will share a room with a guy, you hated it."

Enid rolled her eyes "I'm fine with guys, as long as they're not a dickhead" she huffed.

"Nah I'm not agreeing with this" Kent said with his face being doubtful "You're a lesbian all through in and out, there's just no way"

"Oh my god" Bianca facepalmed while Yoko and Divina burst into laughter.

Enid glared at him "I will claw your eyes out, I swear to god"

"God that was funny" Yoko took a deep breaths before spoke again. "But yeah, she will your roommate"

"Well I'm damned" she sighs, who knows who she will share a room with.

A day has passed now as well as Enid"s roommate will come. She fixed her room yesterday just to ensure that her roommate will be comfortable. She prayed that the person is nice and not unpleasant to be with, which she highly doubts.

She enters the Principal's office to be met by dark and gloomy dressed people who are seated in the sofa with Principal Weems in front of them in her desk.

Principal Weems glanced at her and smiled "Well, the your roommate is here Wednesday" she points at her "I hope you will enjoy here in Nevermore"

The two persons who are seated stand up to face her with a cheerful gaze except the girl who seated between. She assumed it's her parents because of their age.

The girl then stands up to met her gaze that made her astounded by her look.

She's in her Nevermore uniform, probably handmade by school since the color is darker than the actual uniform. Her dark brown eyes staring blankly a her, a crescent moon just at the tip of the right eyelid, though a line extends from the moon down to her cheek.

The crescent moon really got her attention, but there is one thing she is nervous about.

Her blank stare that surely will be the death of her.
