Cookies?! (C+N)

Neptune sat on his bed, or rather, he layed on the comfortable surface staring at his black phone screen as his face smushed into the cyan of his freshly washed pillow smelling of whatever cleaning detergent his mother uses. Clicking the button again, he checked for the hundred and seventh time, but to no avail. despite watching as the minutes flicked and the photos shifted, he received no messages. The blue obsessed boy groans rolling over onto his back arms splayed out on either side of him. Why hasn't he texted?
Of course it's irrational of Neptune to think these thoughts, thoughts that overlapped in his mind of sinking black and red staining his conscience like blood, but he still thought them, still had them nibbling at the corners of his brain like a hungry mouse that had conquered the mouse trap. What if he doesn't like you? What if he only gave you his number out of spite? What if-
Ding!
A TEXT!
Neptune scrambles back to his phone snatching up the smooth blue cyan case feeling the all too familiar material fall into place comfortably inside his hands. His light blue eyes are trained on the screen face illuminated by the bright blue light causing his eyes to shine even brighter than they were.
And then, he crumbles. Groaning as he lets his muscles relax falling into his bed for a second time in defeat. It was his mum texting him.
No, he's not one of those teenagers, he loves his mum, truly, it's just, he's expecting a text. A very important text! So maybe the brunette is annoyed by the unexpected test that had brought all his hopes and dreams soaring higher than an eagle before shooting the arrow to send it all crashing down.
He sighs before unlocking his phone, tapping in his now very familiar password casually hating on the number seven that he had to press far too many times. (He can thank his dad for that.) And now he's staring at his home screen coincidently set to a photo of Neptune, this time the planet, and not just hime smiling awkwardly at the camera waiting for his life in the spot light to finally end.
His minimal apps smiled up at him as he ignored them (as he always does), and clicks on the green and white app smiling as he sees the five contacts he has. His mother, his father, his sister, his brother and Caelous. His new best friend. Or at least, Neptune hoped they were friends. His smile turns to worry as bit his lip still looking at the blank chat room his own lone message staring back at him, 'Hey!! It's me Neptune, how are you?' Oh, it's so cringy, why did he send that? Shaking his head, his mind refocuses, right! His mum.
Short, pale fingers move slowly, inexperience showing as he awkwardly taps on the screen and reads out his newest message.
'Hey hunny! I'll be back with Viera soon, in about ten-ish minutes, love you.'
Ah yes, Viera, his older sister who had that soccer game this morning. Neptune would've loved to have watched but...early mornings really aren't his thing.
The blue curser blinks at him awaiting his inexperienced fingers to begin tapping away, autocorrect popping its shoulders ready for the mess of words that are about to string out from this young boys fingers.
'olsu' he types out watching as the machine skilfully converts the letters into words, 'okay'.
Is he a dry texter? Maybe. Does he know that? Not at all.
Three grey dots appear blinking one at a time as his mother responds probably as slow and inexperienced as himself despite her owning a phone for years.
'I'll see you soon❤️' It's just like his mother to send a heart, and it's just as characterised for Neptune to join.
'💙' But with blue.
Another sigh as he feels the uneven levels of his phone running his index finger over the button a ticklish sensation running though the pad of his finger. And then, with just a little more pressure, the phone clicks of with that satisfying sound he so loves and hates. Maybe it was okay when he's at home, but it's certainly not okay when he's out in public catching the train at 3:18pm in a crowded carriage with so many judgy adults side eyeing him every few. He wasn't even sitting for goodness sake!
Once again, Neptune sighs (which he seems to be making a habit of, now more than ever) and sits up detangling his feet from his white sheets the rough fabric clinging to his pale legs a straight jacket. Hmmm, maybe he should go out in the sun? That seemed like a great suggestion...but, what if he misses the text?! Then what? No, he couldn't miss this text, he couldn't miss it for the world.
So now he sat still and straight leaning against the cold, ceremic white of his bed head staring up at his fan that twirled for the summer heat frisking wildly. Maybe he should ask his dad for a new fan, that seemed like a great idea.
Grabbing his phone again, he can feel the weight balance across his fingers the cool metal bliss on his skin. Tap, tap, tap And he's in surveying the apps on his phone screen looking for the familiar green and white messages app. Upon discovery, his fingers awkwardly tap on the screen the smooth texture of an un-cracked screen blessing the pads of his thumbs as he begins to type.
'Hey dad, I need a new fan' Yep, still a dry texter nothing has changed in the ten minutes he sat staring at a broken fan.
He's just about to send another message when a banner crosses the top of his screen blue eyes flickering up immediately to catch a glimpse of the sender, 'Caelous'.
As fast as he can, he's zooming out of his father's chat room and clumsily fumbling with the phone as he taps on the pinned contact eyes wide face prepared for anything.
'sup im chillin'
As soon as he reads the text, he begins to respond, but another response fired through.
'eatin cookis'
Neptune blinks, such a random response, but that is to be expected. He's texting Caelous, the seeming god of randomness.
'Cookies?' Neptune responds with a smile.
'yuh' and then a pause.
'wnt one?'
Why is this boy so random?
'...how?' But as soon as he sends that, an image of three cookies appear on the opposite side of the chat.
They were a delicious colour of creamy yellow with hardened choc-chips curled on the ends with perfect drizzled hooks. One of the three was half-eaten showcasing the soft inside that Neptune one thousand percent knew would melt in his mouth. Oh god, he is hungry.
'😋' Neptune sends the emoji as his mouth waters and his face leans impossibly close to the screen trying to engulf the treats through the screen to feel their buttery texture on his tongue, taste the sweet and salty flavour of the chocolate chips and to smell that all too perfect scent of a freshly baked cookie.
'Nvm ate them all.' Came from Caelous' side of the screen speaking of seemingly no remorse.
So maybe Neptune is a dry texter, but Caelous is a dry person.
...
...
...and Neptune still wants to be friends.
'...I've been backstabbed.'
'😂😂 they were good.'
'😱😱😱THE CURSED EMOJI!!!!!!'
'the wht?!'
'THE CURSED EMOJI!!!!' Neptune taps his fingers frantically as a wide smile stretched across his face, perfectly white teeth gleaming with mischief.
'Wht?!'
'You can't use that one!!! It's cursed!!' Neptune types back at the speed of light slowly losing the awkwardness his fingers once held.
'HEH?!'
'YEAH'
'...so whch do i use?'
'This one, duh.🤣' In real life, Neptune does roll his eyes the smile still etched across his fingers. It would be so embarrassing if one of his siblings or parents walked past his door.
'its exacyl tge same!!'
'No it's not!'
'yeh!'
'It's side ways. All the difference it needs.'
'...i see ur point.'
And then a second later,
'I now devote my entire life purpose for the spreading of this now law, to never again use the cursed emoji. May the gods of Greece and Rome from down upon this sorry excuse of a face and damn any who dare to use it, for Neptune, namesake of the god of the sea, hath spoken.'
Neptune blinks at the length of the message before reading the text eyes widening as his lips curl into a smile. This boy is random. And he loves it.
'Exactly.'
And so their conversation continues messages firing onto the screens as if competing with each other, who can be seen first? Whose message will be replied to?
Hours go by before either of them tear a finger or an eye away from the screen the two boys practically glued to the soul purpose of texting the other, screaming their thoughts and ideals to each other through a screen.
And Neptune couldn't have loved it more.
He sat on his bed hunched over his pillow under his chin as his legs crisscrossed over each other.
'I've got to go.' He types sadly as his phone's battery slowly tips to one percent.
'aight...but u cant go yet! hang on!'
Neptune waited in anticipation eye muscles screaming for a break from blue light.
'🍪'
'virtual cookie!'
Neptune blinks at his screen the two messages seeming to smile softly up at him.
He doesn't know what to say, to type, so he just stares.
And after a bit, his fingers move.
'💙' The blue heart.
'✨🍪✨' And a cookie.
And then his phone is black, the battery finally giving way reflecting the soft, shocked expression on his features. Then he smiles and stands to find a charger his day perfectly complete.
So maybe he isn't a dry texter, and maybe Caelous isn't a dry person.
And Neptune couldn't have anything, any other way.

Wow! The first chapter!! (oh noooo, it's short!)

Also maybe it glitched so everything is in italics, who cares?
