"Kirie...?"

The red light loomed over the monotonous empty room, blinking and blaring its unsettling meaning like a strobe firework in the dead of night. Some fires in the next hallway bled smoke and cascaded within the area to create a cowl of concrete grey, an unnatural density to it making it stick to the floor instead of spreading its wings to cloak vision. The smoke being as dense as it is was convenient, as it gave Max a clear view of the woman before him, or rather... what took the image of the woman she knew.

He recognized it, he recognized her form and her familiar hair. He just didn't know what form she had taken. Her back was turned, but he could see the rot that began to take place near her back, torn pieces of flesh flaking off of her like pieces of rust flaking off of metal. Appendages attached to her back, thin and malleable and moving oh so unnaturally captivated his attention next. At each end of the fleshy purtrusions was a claw reminiscent of that of a crabs, wretched and a mockery of natures design. But by far what captivated him the most (surprisingly) was the red marker above her head, pointing down at her and somehow looming over the red light like it was on another layer of reality. A simple x within the marker a warning to others that this was no man, but an apex predator far above any out there.

The monster before him tensed what little muscle she had left and turned around. A brief glance at the sadistic drooling smile she had on would have many cowering in fear, but not max. He knew what cubes were and how they looked. He was desensitized. It didn't seem to recognize his voice, but as it turned around to look at him with those empty dripping eye sockets, suddenly that sadistic smile turned into one of very slight shock and hesitation.

Max looked at the creature with the essence of betrayal welling up in his eyes and the anger that he had trusted someone who was very much his only friend in his lonely life.

"Max..." The creature spoke, though its vocals were off, no need for vocal cords when you are killing. Though it seemed to genuinely be hesitant about entroaching the topic and thinking of the right words to say, more than anyone could ask of Kirie if they knew her.

"...You were supposed to be at the origin cubes holding chamber." Kirie opted for her usual deadpan personality. Gone was the hesitation that entailed Max's arrival, as if he actually meant something to her.

Max responded by holding up a black cube and waving it around carelessly. He wasn't in the right mindset to care about the consequences, besides... he had already lobotomized it to force it into safe mode, as instructed by Kirie. It was her plan to break in. It was her plan to take the cube and kill it once it had forgotten how to use its full power. She wasn't even supposed to be here. The only reason he noticed her was the trail of her shoes footprints on the floor leading to this area, and he got curious.

"I was... I achieved our mission, Kire... so why are you here? What... ARE you?" Max said carelessly and with betrayal covering his senses. In you concentrate hard enough, you could see the hurt in Kiries eyes when he questioned her humanity, or you could see the clear shame as well... though it was shame born from being caught.

"I... are mission isn't complete until all cubes are dissasembled. I'm here to finish the job." Kirie spoke once more, Max almost interrupted with his own statement, but he was afraid of irritating her. So he opted to let her finish speaking before he spoke.

"Kirie, there are no more cubes here, you said this facility only held the origin cube... right?" Max shook his head violently before speaking with clear acceptance in his voice. "You lied to me about being here... maybe you lied to me about this as well." Max started to temporarily forget about Kiries form and started speaking to her normally, like a friend would comfort someone with. "But why lie to me, Kirie? It was us against the world, right?" Max voice started to crack under the force of the betrayal. "I could have helped, I could have-"
