Even as her alarm blared, Fallon Robinson groggily slapped her hand on it and hit the snooze button. It was too early for this. She knew she needed to get up, but sleep beckoned to her like a sweet siren's call. Practice yesterday was killer, running until one in the morning. But she couldn't help it. The band needed her, and more importantly, they needed to be on top of their game for the upcoming Battle Of The Bands.
'Just five more minutes...' She thought.
"Fallon, it's time to get up." Her mother entered her room and lightly shook her from over the covers.
Fallon let out a groan in response.
"You know you can't be late again, young lady." She reiterated.
"Let me sleeeeep..."
"Fallon Elizabeth, if you aren't out of that bed in the next three minutes, I will drag you out of that bed myself." She scolded.
"Ugh... Fiiiine..." Fallon begrudgingly lifted the covers and sat up, her hair a tangled mess around her freckled face.
"That's better. Now come down for breakfast." Ms. Robinson left the room.
Fallon couldn't believe how pushy her mother could be sometimes. It was her bed and schedule, so she should be able to get up whenever she wanted. Still in her plaid pajama pants and white pajama top, she trudged down the stairs and into the kitchen.
The smell of bacon and eggs immediately entered her nose. Her mom was sipping coffee as she was going over her schedule for the day. Fallon grabbed some food and took a seat at the table across from her.
"You know, you could always try going to bed earlier." Brenda suggested.
Fallon said something back, but it was muffled by the sound of her still eating.
"I get your band is important to you but your education is important too. Did you do your homework?" Brenda asked.
"Yes, before practice." It was the truth. For as much as she could care less about going, Fallon at least did the homework.
"Good... If you can somehow be on time for the next two weeks. I'll look at that guitar you wanted."
Fallon perked up ever so slightly. "No fooling?"
"No tricks. Just be on time."
Yes!
Fallon quickly finished her breakfast and went upstairs to get ready for the day.
Brenda sighed. She was just like her father...

Brenda pulled up to the front of the school, where Fallon got her backpack and draped it over her shoulder.
"Have a good day, honey! Make good choices!" Brenda called out before taking off.
'Oh, believe me, I will...' Fallon thought. She waved to her mother before heading inside.
All the usual cliques were meeting in their usual spots. She couldn't find any of her friends, so instead she just opted to wait in homeroom until class officially began.
What's strange was even after the Pledge of Allegiance, the teacher still hadn't shown up. Fallon wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth, though.
"Well," Fallon clapped her hands and got up from her seat. "Looks like class is cancelled."
"Says who?" Asked one student.
"Says me." She replied. "Later."
Mom said that she had to be on time. She didn't say anything about having to stay here.
And off she went. She made sure to grab a bathroom pass just in case. As long as she was back in time she was good. Maybe she'd come back for a class or two. Maybe. But for now, her friends were waiting for her at the bleachers.
......................................................................
"Think she'll be here?"
"No doubt she always shows..."
"Think she's doing her work?"
"HA! That's a good one."
Razor Trap consisted of Fallon Robinson on lead guitar, Matt Holmes on bass, Wyatt Shepherd on drums, Crystal Murray on keyboard, and Tyler Douglas on vocals. Their style was a mix of rock and nu-metal. They were fellow misfits that had come together through their shared love of music. Fallon had been recruited into the band her freshman year by Tyler. It helped that the two were smitten with each other, in spite of the age gap.
Fallon didn't care about that, and neither did Tyler. They were each other's Bonnie and Clyde.
"Hey, babe!" Tyler waved and the two shared a loving embrace.
"Hi..." Fallon giggled before turning to the others. "Hey, guys. What's up?"
"Me..." Wyatt paused as he raised his hand, then let out a wheeze of a laugh.
Crystal rolled her eyes. "Nothing much. Just going over our setlist for the tournament."
"What if we started with 'Lead To Slaughter'?" Matt suggested.
"Nah, people will be expecting that." Tyler shook his head. "I was thinking 'Dangerous and Moving'."
Everyone seemed to agree with that. As they delved deeper into what songs they would be playing for which round, they decided to walk to Tyler's place to hang out. It wasn't much, but his basement was pretty huge. From there, they continued to practice some more until it was almost time for Fallon and the others to go back to school.
"Aw, really babe?" Tyler said pitifully. "You sure you can't stay a little longer?"
"You know how my mom gets about school." Fallon replied.
To this day, she still thinks Tyler is a tutor. What a riot!
"Alright..." Tyler gave her a kiss on the forehead. "I'll drive you all back."
Fallon hated having to leave him like this. It ultimately wasn't worth the verbal beatdown she'd get if she found out, however.
Tyler dropped off the four of them, and gave Fallon one last kiss before taking off. The remaining band members went on their seperate ways just as the bell rung. Fallon had art class last, and thankfully the teacher was super chill. She took her seat at the back and took out her art book.
Not much happened, and Fallon was able to successfully feign ignorance with her mother when she came to pick her up.
'And she's still none the wiser...'
