(AN 1: Sorry for the long wait, my Mac decided to have serious battery issues which I couldn't fix for a while. Plus I work, so I've been quite busy! But regardless, here is a longgg chapter for you guys!)
(AN 2: The long awaited rematch between Rimuru and Yuuki finally commences! I should also inform everyone that a big part of what I want to do with this fanfic is expand the already very detailed world building the original story established. There will still be plot, but there will also be entire chapters dedicated just to world building. I hope you guys will give them a try and not find them boring! But, for this chapter, let's get to the action!)
(AN: But first...world building!)
POV: Rigurd, former Hobgoblin, former ogre, now Kijin, Prime Minister of Tempest, father of two, grandfather of seven
- Year 106 AR, 101 years after The Day of God's Wrath-
(AN: AR = After Rimuru, it's for the calendar, I'll explain it in a later chapter)

"Gather around, children. I wish to tell you all a story, and it's not everyday that I get a day off from my responsibilities. Sit on the ground around me, please." I say towards my grandchildren, all of whom are busy talking, playing, and running around the living room of my house.
They can sometimes be quite a handful...especially the younger ones... but I love them all quite dearly, and with the only exceptions being my two sons, Rigur the first and Rigur the second, as well as Lord Rimuru and Lady Ciel, they mean everything to me. I would do anything in my power to always protect them; I would never allow any harm to befall them, ever.
And, with the great power Lord Rimuru and Lady Ciel bestowed upon all citizens of our glorious Holy Empire, Tempest, upon their victory over the Great Evil Ones, my vow to protect all of my grandchildren forever is not just a pipe dream.
Now, not every single citizen received a massive evolution like myself and the other high ranking officials, mind you. Yet, among those who were evolved included myself, of course, but more importantly my son. After all, Rigur the second has been an ever loyal subordinate of Lord Rimuru ever since our first meeting over a century ago.
Not only that, but in Lord Rimuru's own words, both Rigur and I rightfully deserved our evolutions into Kijin, skipping the ogre stage all together.
Lord Rimuru did inform both of us that we can one day evolve into the final stage of our evolutionary track, into that of oni. Well, the final stage, officially.
Unofficially, being an oni is the stage right before Lord Rimuru would directly intervene and evolve us into deities in our own right, joining the pantheon of major and minor gods Lord Rimuru established over a century ago. However, neither of us have reached either stage yet.
