[CHAPTER 4] - THE FIRST STEP

Author’s Pov:

Hustle-Bustle was everywhere. After knowing a new duchess’s arrival, the whole Manor is in an uproar. All the servants are in hassle to complete the chores as fast as possible because the old duke especially ordered himself to welcome the new Duchess of the Duchy of Celesterra.

A maid suddenly ran over and said, “Quick! Quick as hell!! General Orson is here with the new Duchess together. Everyone paced up as they heard what he said. Each of them was running down towards the main corridor to welcome them. As soon as they stood at their positions the announcement of her arrival got announced in a whole dramatic way that even she herself got shocked to death hearing about her in that manner but what more surprised her more was the view in front of her. The crowd awaiting her before her eyes.

Butler Florence:

“Welcome, Your Grace. I am Miss Vivian Florence, the house manager. It is an honor to serve you.” “Your Grace, we have eagerly anticipated your arrival. The entire staff is at your service.” I trust your journey was pleasant. If there is anything you need to refresh yourself, please let me know.

(Cold as hell. As if she’s forced to do so. I didn’t forced her okay!)

Autumn’s Pov:

Thank you, Miss Florence, for such a warm and thoughtful welcome. Your attention to detail is truly remarkable.

(In an authoritative voice she warned her to not look down on her. That’s my girl!)

Author’s Pov:

Hearing her cold yet warm response in such a stern yet simple voice nobody would have thought that such a tiny figure would hold such a firm voice. But it is our Autumn we are talking about. Isn’t easy to understand! Right.

In the present moment a servant on behalf of all other servant moves ahead and honour her with fresh bouquet of flower, decorated with authentic, freshly handpicked pink roses.

It seems the servants were indeed impressed by their new duchess. But the duchess was quite in shock for seeing a whole damn bunch of handsome guys serving her like that means there is no female servant to serve except the butler herself.

After completing her all duties and understanding all the things she finally got some time for rest.

Autumn’s Pov:

Ahh! Frustrating as hell. Finally, my “First Step” is accomplished successfully, to have my ‘first step’ in this place as smoothly as possible and yeah thanks to brother Orson. By the way, isn’t she human? Bla, bla, bla! Nonstop rambling. And!! Did she look down on me. That old ass! It seems impossible for me to live here a carefree life. I don’t even know what the duke looks like, how will I know what his nature will be like. Will he be just like her the butler of the ducal palace?

I need to set myself straight and also my priorities. I think it’ll be quite a challenge since she looked down on me on my arrival because of my looks. Huh! Who cares. If she does so or not. The main person to know and tackle at first is the “Duke Magnus Voss” the “Earl of the Celesterra Dukedom. The owner of the “Land of Dean’s.”

From what I heard he is a out of wedlock child of the old duke but after his birth he married her asap. Not even knowing her background, he made her the fifteenth duchess of the duchy making him his heir and an eyesore for the first fourteen wives’ children’s. Since he was capable it wasn’t difficult for him to win his father’s favour either. He went on a lot of wars, won them and came back as the Knight in the Shining Armor. It must have created a wedge between the siblings. That old duke is such a player! Never get bored of this marriage thing. But the weird thing is that from the starting his every wife died out of a sudden disease. But somehow nobody knows what happened with the fifteenth duchess. It became a secret that everybody wants to know even I’m curious too to know sorcery between these webs of lies. For sure, this place is mystery but not bigger than me!

Let’s take a nap since it’s the ‘hour of pig’. It was tiring. Oh! Gosh!!
