John
When I woke up, I kept my eyes closed and listened. I heard cars, people, different noises you can only hear in a big city at night. I opened my tired eyes and stared at the ceiling. It was plain white. The walls and ceiling in my old room had posters and photos on them, but this wasn't my old room. This was my new room in the big, pretty house of my dead granny in the middle of London. We lived in a small suburb outside of London until we moved here a few days ago. I sighed and stood up.A shiver went through my body, when my feet hit the cold ground. The heaters weren't running in the middle of the night, not in august anyway. A glance at my clock told me that I only slept a few hours, nothing unusual to be honest. I've never been a person that slept much. Four to five hours per night were normal for me. The new room and strange noises took their own part to keep me from relaxing and sleeping. Sure, I've been here many times before, but it was a strange thought to live here from now on.I made my way to the packed bags on the floor to search for my favourite sweater. After short time I found the two sizes too large Lilac-Gray thing and put it on. The familiar smell and fabric comforted me in an instant. This sweater was my feel good promise in every situation. Hey, I'm a gay pastel-Goth boy and I don't care what people think about me. I'm not out of the closet yet, but my style was enough for people at home to talk about me. A boy who wears colours like light blue and purple? Not acceptable in their happy-world-view. So I wasn't exactly sad to leave this place and move into a big city with more open minded people. Humming, I went down into the kitchen to grab a cup of tea. I looked out of the window and catched a glimpse at the first rays of daylight . A smile tugged on my lips, I always loved sunrise. I poured hot water into my teacup. The smell of it filled my nose. I found beauty in the smallest things. Tea in the morning, the rising sun. Still humming I went back into my room. With my Tea, my phone and a bit drawing stuff I went out on my balcony and started to draw the rising sun. Now and then I took a sip of my tea and The 1975 played on my phone. I never thought how soothing this City could be. I felt relaxed and satisfied on a high level. ' Feels like the beginning of a new era huh...'
If I just knew how rigt I was...
