The next day, the hospital room was quiet, save for the rhythmic beeping of the machines monitoring Jin's condition. Namjoon sat slumped in the chair by Jin's bedside, his face drawn and pale from lack of sleep. His eyes were bloodshot, dark circles underlining the exhaustion and guilt that weighed heavily on his chest. He hadn't slept at all—he couldn't.
Yoongi sat on the opposite side of the bed, his demeanor more composed but still somber. He hadn't spoken much, letting the heavy silence speak for itself. His hands rested on his knees, and his eyes flicked occasionally to Namjoon, noting the visible strain on the leader's face.
Namjoon hadn't moved from his spot in hours. His fingers fiddled with the hem of his shirt, his eyes fixated on Jin, waiting, hoping for any sign that his Hyung would wake up. He wasn't sure if he was ready for it, though. What would he say? How could he ever begin to make up for what he had done?
They had both barely spoken since taking over from Taehyung and Hoseok, who had stayed with Jin through the night. Now it was their turn.
Namjoon rubbed his temples, trying to fend off the throbbing headache that had been building since the previous night. Every sound in the room seemed too loud, too sharp, yet somehow muffled beneath the weight of his guilt.
Yoongi glanced at Namjoon from the corner of his eye, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the armrest of his chair. He had watched Namjoon suffer in silence for hours, his own feelings torn between anger and understanding. Namjoon had made a terrible mistake, but Yoongi knew that guilt could tear a person apart just as much as anger could.
Though quieter in his grief, Yoongi was suffering too, his anger now simmering beneath the surface. He had forgiven Namjoon to an extent—at least enough to work together for Jin's sake—but the weight of what had happened was still there. He was waiting, much like Namjoon, for Jin to wake up, for the moment they could try to make amends.
Yoongi finally broke the silence, his voice low and rough. "You should try to get some sleep, Namjoon. You won't be any help to anyone if you collapse."
Namjoon shook his head without looking up. "I can't, Hyung. How can I sleep when... this is my fault? I don't deserve to rest." His voice cracked at the end, the guilt he had been carrying for days bubbling to the surface.
Yoongi sighed, running a hand through his hair. He was still angry, still struggling with his own feelings, but seeing Namjoon like this—completely consumed by guilt—made it hard to stay mad. "Blaming yourself won't change what happened. We were all a part of it. We all turned our backs on him, not just you."
Namjoon clenched his fists, his knuckles white. "But I was the one who started it, Hyung. I made you all believe something that wasn't even true. I pushed him... I made him fall. How do I live with that?"
Yoongi's gaze softened as he looked at the broken leader across from him. "You live with it by making it right. Jin hyung's still here. He's fighting, and when he wakes up, we'll all have a chance to apologize. But if you don't take care of yourself, how are you going to be there for him?"
Namjoon let out a shaky breath, his eyes still glued to Jin's peaceful face. "What if he doesn't forgive me? What if he never trusts me again?"
Yoongi leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "He might not forgive you right away. It might take time. But Jin hyung... he's always been the kind of person who forgives, even when he shouldn't. And that's why we need to make sure he knows we're sorry—not just with words, but with how we treat him from now on."
Namjoon finally looked over at Yoongi, his eyes filled with uncertainty. "Do you think we can fix this? All of us?"
Yoongi was quiet for a moment before he nodded slowly. "Yeah. I think we can. But it's going to take a lot of work. Trust doesn't just come back overnight."
